I got this for a deal. It came with vertical white lines across the screen, evenly spaced i would say maybe 1.5 in between them. The lines appear to have orbiting pixels of mainly white but seem to also contain a little occasional confetti of color i think is what I see.

Re: Lg 60pk550 lines, then half screen blackout issue
So then, i did the usual poking around looking for a short or loose connection. But nothing. Unplugged some xbuffers, cleaned with electrical cleaner, and unplugging just turned off screen in each location. Unplugged the board itself, same thing. Did each ysus and xsus boards, cleaning ribbon contacts. Only thing that happened after all that is a pop and i think burning smell from the left and center xbuffer boards. I didnt install the black metal cover back over them while i ran the tv, and the elec cleaner had ample time (hour, fast evap kind tooo) to evaporate. So now there is black on 75% of left hand of screen with 2 lines about 1a foot apart within the black side. The remaining is the same i started with.

Well--All it needed before was a Control-Board....
But Now--After it let the smoke out--who knows!
Sounds like you killed the COF chips on the pane, by running with no heatsink--and also the possibility of spiking them when disconnecting/reconnecting when there's a possibility of some voltage still present on the Va etc lines to them...
--Need to leave set OFF for a full 10 minutes before re-connecting/disconnecting any Address-Chips of a Plasma set....
The COF chips are part of the panel, therefore if damaged/killed is Unrepairable....
Should NEVER run any set of any type without the heatsinks on the COF Address-Chips--They will self destruct due to overheat in a surprising short time.Last edited by Alastair E; 03-04-2016, 01:59 PM.TELEFIX

Re: Lg 60pk550 lines, then half screen blackout issue
That side of the panel shows activity in the form of lit up black and a couple thin lines. Is that indicative is a dead cof chip? Ill post a pic tonight of its current state. Ill be ordering a control logic board if theres signd its not messed up.

Alright, took a pic, but remeber its resting panel side down on a leather black chair and i lifted it up to take a pic, and the red line is in the center if 60in screen. The pop i heard was not loud at all, and i dont think it came from the board that is working. I dont believe i disconnected the x buffer boards with power on either. I had left the tv on for awhile hoping something would warm up and fix itself, but it didnt. I should have come here and asked first (kicks self).Last edited by Redjess; 03-04-2016, 11:59 PM.

Re: Lg 60pk550 lines, then half screen blackout issue
Took off the ysus board, the logic board and the y buffer boards and reconnected it all back, and only got rid of the red line down center. I'm desperate because i need to either fix and put it up or get rid of it. How can i check if the cof chips are toast? I did notice when i banged the panel some type of warning pops up. Cant see it other then the forst work "this".

Check the Data-Lines to the affected area of screen with Scope. Also check for supplies Va and 5V to the affected areas.
--Thats how you can confirm the COF Chip destruction.
COF chips are VERY EASY to damage. Never ever mess with 'em if there's no need, and there clearly wasn't in your first picture--It was a Control Board issue (Regular lines all over screen).
Y-SUS will Not cure this problem, only Panel Replacement will..TELEFIX
