    Panasonic TX-P46GT30B

    Hi all
I have a 8 blink problem with the above set I have found
a manual and the causes are.

    Driver SOS3 Checkpoint SS-board.
    (SS FPC DET)Checkpoint SS2-board
(SS Energy Recovery Circuit) Check point SS PFC
    and SS2 PFC
I am not sure where I should be looking,
especially SS PFC and SS2 PFC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Alan.

providing the SC is connected then 8 blink should be SS. SS PFC and SS2 PFC are the flex cables to the panel.

Maybe check Q102 on SS , RCJ330N25 on a hunch it may be shorted.

      Hi
Q102 not shorted, I now have another SS board,
as I thought original had been burning, and there
was marks on the frame, but could not work out
why as the screws were tight.

Update now screen shows some life and Viera
banner comes on then as fans start to run it
shuts down with 8 blinks or sometimes LED
will stay on green but screen goes off, the only thing on the
SS2 board is a diode with two resistors.
The diode measures good, unless it is breaking down
      when current is applied.

      Alan.

Ok im curious. Does your set also show some vertical lines/bars + distorted picture? Like a scart cable thats not seated correctly? It stays on for 1 or 2 seconds and then it shuts down.

Can you remove the small ribbon cable going from mainboard to the SS board and leave all other cables as is. Does the tv stay on?

                  Hi

Update A- board arrived yesterday, fitted no change.
                  ( went to work )

While I was there I thought about my problem,
I decided to put 8 blinks to the back of my mind,
I then thought about what I did to fix the original
problem,7 blinks and decided to lift the SC board and see
if the there was any arcing on the mountings.
Well there was and I set about cleaning the frame
and board, I put it back together and turned on
                  no change,
I then turned my attention to my handy work of
                  replacing transistors Q 401-3 and Q421-3
whilst inspecting them I noticed Q401 and 3
was loose on the board slightly so I re-soldered
                  them and tried again.
Success turned on and now have a working TV.
I now have a spare SS board and A board.

Good job! Mine also worked after 8 blink error , tv thought something was wrong due to the weight of the tv giving a lot of pressure on the bottom side of the tv. Probably bending the boards or something.....

                      Well
This thing just died again watched TV then turned off,
about an hour later turned on and found no picture.
Then went off with 7 blinks, opened it up and found
                      Q622 and 661 short,anything else I should check
or have I just been unlucky.

Q622 and 661 replaced and working again,
threw me at first, as it went into standby
on switch on,strange as it was switched off
                        doing 7 blinks.

Done something like 60 hours give or take.
it was about 8 or 9 days.
