I found a SPST dim bulb tester on a website. It looks much better then the first one I built. Now I can test older equipment without worrying about frying anything at power up. How many of you use this type of tester?

Re: My new dim bulb tester
I do sort of.... Mine has sockets for plugs instead of light bulbs.... It also has a ballast bypass and ground lift switch. Its also rated for 20 amps...... It's not always used to protect the load, but to protect the wiring in the walls when the load burns upLast edited by goontron; 02-26-2016, 04:51 PM.Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.
Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

I need an isolation transformer. Any places that sell these or what parts do I need to build one. Also, I can add a variac to slowly increase AC to see any current meter reactions.Last edited by tech2014; 02-26-2016, 04:58 PM.
