I have a RCA 50B45RQ with a bad LED on one of the strips kicking me out on over current protection. They used several different strips in this model depending on when it was built. Mine uses ic-a-kjab50d354 which at this time not easy to find from a harvester. I was wanting to know if anyone has successfully changed the SMD on one of these strips?

Re: LED Strip repair for RCA 50B45RQ
No dont short it out very bad idea ! Doing that means the others have to drop more voltage across them due to one being skipped over, meaning the others get hotter and more likely another one will fail shortly after due to this.
Leds in Tv's are in series, and when one fails it normally fails O/C meaning the chain is broken so non of them will light. Shorting it out is not a good idea trust me.Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Anyone Doing So Will Be Banned Instantly !

Re: LED Strip repair for RCA 50B45RQ
yes you are right ,but there are many more LEDs in series in these sets and the difference for each one of them will be very small . The best idea is to add 5x 4004 diodes in series (approx 3.5 volts) and place them across the faulty LED ,then there will be no increase on the other LED's
I have done this on 2 sets and works well ,with no noticeable image issues

Re: LED Strip repair for RCA 50B45RQ
Fair enough, yes best way is to either replace the Led with a 1w Smd type or sub it with a resistors or diode. Then to save the others turn down the backlight brightnessPlease Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only.
