We got this 40PFL4908 in the shop that was dead with the front panel led blinking. No obvious faults with the power supply, and all the stand by voltages. I have to say it's amazing what crap has a Philips label these days.
We tried the old the hair dryer trick to see if it might be a contact on the main, and sure enough it came right on. Just concentrate your heat on the main ic, and you should get results if it's the same problem. After the tv is on for a brief time that heat sink gets super hot, so the ic needs to be reflowed. Should just call it the red ring o' death. We'll just order another board for the customer.
