This is true. If its a panel fault. At the very least at least you can tell now that the screen is not cracked
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

It doesn't hurt to keep one of the corner cables (lower corner of the panel, assuming the config is the same as the 70), and plug in cables of the tcon for the side that is still connected. If you get "half a picture", you can go from there. Of course, as other suggest, if you get no picture, a quick power down might be in order. You can then try the other side of the things to see if anything changes.

Thanks to everyone's help... Success! Wow! I would have bet the farm the panel was broken somehow.

So this is what I learned:

        1) There is hope if you have the dreaded 2-5 error code
        2) You will not get any backlight circuit with a shorted out Tcon
        3) Removing Tcon still no backlight
        4) Even if I did get a backlight I wouldn't have been able to see anything without a working Tcon. (the screen is black with the ribbon cables disconnected der!)
        5) Vigorously waving the service manual at the TV and reciting Ohm's Law does no good... but your wife might feel sorry for you and... well you know

        Thanks again guys!!

So it was a faulty tcon board?

Yes, Tcon was shorting out 12V

I had it hanging out last night with a 65" plasma with pretty good results. I would say the smaller images (like a face in the distance) isn't as clear on the 80" LCD as it is with the 65" plasma. Almost like it was a little out of focus. This is from 12' away with both screens showing the same scenes.

Football looks great so it's going up on the wall today : )

This is true My 80 was very pixelated up close all the way to about 10 feet away. I think this is the reason why people started deciding that 4k was a way to go on larger screens. I picked up a Sony 4k 65 inch and OMG I can't even see the pixels. It's like looking at my samsung galaxy s5 screen

                Re: Another LC-80LE632U 2-5 thread

I have been following the posts concerning the Sharp Model:LC-80LE632U and thought I would just share some of my experiences. My Serial Number is:212828173 and the set worked for three and a half years without any problems. Recently after a bright lightening flash close to my house my TV refuse to come on so I went into service mode with the "K" showing on the screen and I could use the TV after. I notice the quality of the video was very good and the sound normal. I was using the TV in this condition for two weeks and during that time I did a reset to clear a backlight error. However one evening it refuse to go into the service mode all I got was a Backlight flash and no service mode and two slow and five fast blinks.. I then purchased six Led strips one strip for each part number, dissemble the TV and checked the 15 strips with my Backlight tester and each strip lighted up with the same brilliance I also checked at the two Backlight Connectors and got similar results. So I decided to check the boards and could not find a noticeable problem .I then ordered one spare board for each of the three in the TV to troubleshoot and keep the good ones as spares .The first one I got was the Power Supply Board Model: DPS-285BPA , P/N:RUNTKB096WJQZ REV 01 (Original is Rev 00) S/N:C71A1244007810 (orig) [1] I installed the board and I got the same blink code when I tried to go into service mode I saw a flash of the Back-light and I also noticed a faint line straight across the screen.[2] I then replaced the T CON board plus the two ribbon cables due to a error voltage on the 12 volts line but I got the same error [3] I replaced the Main Board and I am getting a one long and one short blink and when I try to go into the Service Mode I see a brief flash of the "K" but I am not getting into the Service Mode. TV comes up using the reset code Vol-+ and ch- while plugging it in but no video nor audio.
For the Voltages measured in this state Please see attached file I have noticed the voltages are stable and the O.P.L. at pin 21 is 2 Volts. I suspect that the LCD Screen may have a problem on both sides of the screen this may be causing the Back-light driver and current limiter to stay off.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure from the your post whether you followed the suggestion about leaving the tcon connected as normal BUT disconnect one of the corner flex cables that are at the bottom corner of the panel on each side. Those cables interconnect the bottom edge boards to the side drivers. IF you disconnect one corner cable, then turn on the set and see if you get a picture. You can go from there.

i have tried disconnecting the T-CON Board Ribbon connectors one by one and even both and seen a brief light up of each half of the screen.

My present state is I am seeing the MENU on the screen faintly in the background when I select it. and my voltages are stable as shown in the attachment after doing a press of the Vol -,Vol+, CH DN while plugging in the set also the error has stopped flashing but no continuous backlight.

I have attached a diagram of part of the Backlight Driver IC 7201 for any one who is interested also I was able to purchase this IC from a chinese company on-line. I am still trying to get the Datasheet for it.

If I disconnect the Power Cable and reconnect it I return to the 1S-1L blink error.

The test that I refer to IS NOT touching tcon cables (they stay attached), you need to try disconnecting the corner cables at the lower corners of the panel going between the edge boards.

Ok I just disconnect the left side ribbon cable at the bottom, switch back on the set and got half the menu without backlight I replaced same and did the same thing to the right and got the same result. In both cases I got just a little flash of the backlight a couple of seconds after switching on the TV.

Please note that my original error before replacing boards was a 2-5.
and i got the 1-1 error after the main board and T-CON were replaced. i started seeing the"K" briefly after the main board change.

OK... but note that the error codes don't always come out of the controller in a "well defined / planned" manner. Hopefully, your replacement of the backlight driver does the trick.

To: BUDWICH or any one who have followed up with what I 've done so far and could help me with some suggestions.

I have just finished changing the IR2E67M after doing some Internet training and practicing on some Motherboard chips . After installing the chip I notice the whole Menu with the Backlight flickering a little and lasted for a around five seconds and if I disconnect the AC plug the TV would resort to 1-1 Blink code .
I decided to do an extensive check on the fifteen rows of thirty LED's by first assembly two of the rows with new led's
[1]Row one just like in the TV with three segments P/N:5073+5069+5071 all in series comprising of thirty LED's.
                                      [2] Row two ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, P/N:5072+5070+5024 all in series comprising of thirty LED's.

I applied 175v with the LED tester to the first and second Rows independently and got a current of 29.1 mA. in each case. I then checked the 15 Rows in the TV by disconnecting the two connectors and checking each row and got the same 29.1 mA. at 175 vdc.

For the fifteen Rows they have alternated Rows one and two.

I sprayed the connectors with 226 CRC and plug them back to the board.

I rechecked the TV after replacing the connectors and got a stable Menu. I was able to reset the TV using the Menu and started an auto tuning which got dim after finding about 14 channels. so
I am planning to re check the other Backlight components on the board and do a reflow of all the soldering joints to see if I could improve on the present state of the board.

I have noticed that the Power Supply Diagram is not available in the Service Manuals for the 60 to 80 inch Sharp TV and I would like some help in locating a copy.

                                        wow lots of good work.
As for a power supply diagram, as you have found, I think you will likely not find any as somehow the manufacturers (or their suppliers) appear unwilling to provide these even in manufacturer service manuals for a set. :-(

Not sure but from your "last step" (ie. auto tuning), you mention "got dim" but you still have some form of back lighting, right? or its gone away again?
IF you have some form of backlighting so that you can hopefully see the screen, you might consider trying to get into the service menu and look at the error counts to see if they provide any clues that the controller might be "seeing" some issues.
IF you still have some form of backlighting, maybe you have some sort of "auto dimming" circuit kicking in... just a thought though.

When the TV gets dim the backlight is not there and if I rest it down for a day and do a vol +,ch dn while pushing in the Power Plug it ignores the errors and the backing would come on and work for a while.
