    Re: Sceptre X405BV-FHD3HF02205 no power

So I got the eeprom today.
I am a tech type person but soldering is not something I have done a lot of but I have basic skills and can do it.
Removing the old one from the board and cleaning up remnants of it went well but getting the new one soldered on was tough for me.

First of all the part is small and I could barely see it with my glasses on and a magnifying glass did not help much either.

After I soldered it back on as best I could I took a pic of it with my phone and zoomed in. It looked horrible but I plugged it in and it appeared to work. What I mean is the TV would turn on and off just fine but I had no menus or picture.
Thinking I must have accidentally cross soldered some of the little legs or whatever you call them from the eeprom together I went back and cleaned them up a bit.
I then had menus and a picture and I have turned it off and on with varying times in between for a few hours now and it works fine. Before I replaced eeprom if you turned it off it would not come back on unless you unplugged/plugged back in several times and held in power button nonsense.

If it starts acting up again I will let you know but right now it seems fine.

Yes and thanks. Shopjimmy informed me of same and I just finished doing that and found the one that matches the numbers on the sticker on the back of the board. It's this one if anyone cares. https://******/2xuCdQf.

    Thanks for that as well.
The P/N on my TV is X405BV-FHD3HA10001 and I don't see one for that exact P/N as they suggest should match on some of the eeproms for similar models. I sent them a message to see if they could help me out with the right one. Meanwhile I will pull the back off and see if there are any clues on the board that might help.

Would someone be so kind as to use one of the many pics of the board in this thread and point out where the eeprom is?

I can handle it from there.

Hi everyone, sorry to bring this back from the dead. I am having the same problem that plbrand was having with his sceptre tv. STBY light on...won't power on. Same model, same boards. I am also getting the same readings on the pins. Is there a way to bypass the main board with a jumper so i know for sure that it is the problem? I am having trouble finding an EEPROM that matches my board #s exactly and according to shopjimmy it has to be EXACT....the closest is 1 number off. According to SCEPTRE they sell the whole board...but I would still like to be sure. Thank you,

    Trevor

Hello, This is my first real post here other than the intro.
It looks like there have been 2 successful repairs to this model from this thread and I just wanted to let you know there are now 3.
I have one of these that just quit about 10 days ago. I googled around and came upon this thread. I followed what was posted on the 1st page and when I saw the results for diodes D10, 22, 23 and my D10 was reading 0v compared to the others I gambled and figured that was the culprit since my results were similar to the original posters. Ordered it from digikey, received it today and soldered it in place and so far so good. It's working as it was before.
I actually enjoyed fixing it and saved $300 or so.
I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for others with T.V. issues and try to repair those as well as I have free time I need to fill so I will be back.
    Thanks,
    Kirk

Is it likely that the EEPROM on this board has failed? I notice the replacements are commonly available. Would this be worth a try?

Thanks again for all your help.

    Re: Sceptre X405BV-FHD3HF02205 no power

Voltages do not change on BL-ON or PS-ON when the power switch is pushed on/off.

The part number for U1 (UA1) is:

    TPA3110LD2
    23Tg4
    CO4L

The part number for the large chip U100 is:
    MSD3391DS
    A7MHA93ZB
    1214D

Thanks again, if you guys are willing to continue to try, so am I!

BTW, the PS-ON should toggle HIGH and LOW when power switch is togGle on and OFF, if not, then you have problem with not just the BL-ON signal but the PS-ON too.
At this point it is safe to say that the problem is on the main board.

So Budm is correct and you are missing the Backlight On from the main board for some reason.

    Edit:
Whats the part number on U1 on the underside of the board?

Connector 4 voltages are shown on the attached document. "BL-ON" voltage appears to be .20

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
