42LG5000 panel ot Tcon fault ?

My friend has given me his 42LG5000 to look at.
From his description i thought it was a gamma fault but i don't think it is.
Image is kind of dark in the middle to the right with some image retention and a slow refresh rate in this bit.
I replaced the gamma chip anyway, just wondering if it will be cured by a new Tcon or if its panel failure. Thank you.

I have the same symptoms on a philips lcd , black area with a washed out screen. When i lift the lcd the fault disappears , its always on a cold start. So im guessing its a panel problem. Can you try and "squeeze" the housing? Maybe bent it a little and see if it changes.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Common issue on these Panels is the Tab bond in the top left hand corner failing which causes either half or the whole screen to mess up. Take the frame off and check the Tab bonds.

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
        by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

General Questions on the Relationship Between Mainboard, TCON and Panel
        by mmartell
My goal here is to be able to use boards on hand to swap into faulty sets when the faulty board is not obvious.

I will start by asking what is the format of the output from the mainboard and is it generic in any way or does it vary by manufacturer and/or model ?

And as far as I know a tcon and panel must be a matching pair because the timing of the signals and the voltages required to drive the panel are specific to the panel itself. (That may be a blanket statement that isn't true in some cases where the panel creates its own sub-voltages on its panel boards?)...

Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?
        by Lee M.
TV came on with BL on but blank screen. Disconnected one of the ribbon cables from tcon to panel driver board and now I have half of the screen working normally. Any way to tell if the problem is with the tcon or the panel driver board or the panel itself? Should I just replace the tcon and see what happens?

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
        by AK_777
        Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...
