    vizio l42hdtv10a

    Picked up this set today. It will power on. No picture or sound. And it will not turn off. I think mainboard. I have all voltage 24v,12v 5vsb 5vps-on 3vbl but no dimming. Pictures will come later.

      replace u9 on the board and recheck the voltage on all of them. Normally just that voltage reg goes out from what I seen.

        Input is 5V and no output? it is dead if that is the case or shorted load (you can check the resistance on output pin against GND).

          Will do that tomorrow. I found u18 shorted. Replaced it and still the same.

            Shorted at the Input pin or output pin? It may be shorted out MLCC.

                So when you removed the regulators, did you check the resistance between the solder pads where the regulators were against GND to see of the shorts went away?

                    So it is not the Regulator IC. So was it the input in or the output pin that shows shorted circuit?
                    I would remove the MLCC on the pin that shows shorts circuit.

                      Sorry but i haven't been able to troubleshoot this down to the component. I have ordered a new mainboard and will follow up later.

                      Thanks for the help!!!!!

                        Ok replace the main board. Still the same. There is no bl_on voltage or no dim light voltage. I got 4.4dvc on the ps-on. What you guys think?

                          Where did you get this board from? Those signals are generated by the main board.

                            Electroparts off of ebay. I think I've made a rookie mistake the board number doesn't match. Orginal 3642-0062-0150 new 3420-0012-0150. ugh.

                                a quick google search no one seems to have the board in stock maybe for now whilst your looking put your old board back in and maybe we can do some more fault finding like budm suggests in post 8, also most repair kits online consists of these so double check on your board

                                    EDITED: I thought my Vizio E470VL has +5VSB and no 12v on the PS board, but after plugging the cable back in and testing the pins on the Main board I realized that I do have 12V. I assume the 12V is turned on when the ON/OFF switch is pressed. The Vizio light in front does go from Standby Orange to White when ON. But, I still have no picture or sound. Test values of PS board are below.

                                    +5VSB= +5.09
                                    12V= +12.18
                                    PS_ON= +2.25
                                    I_ON/OFF= +3.27
                                    LAMP= +3.18
                                    DIM= +2.97

                                    Any more testing I can do on Main board or is it just a replacement?...

                                    I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                    Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                    I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                    The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                    With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                    Assuming...

                                    Hi.

                                    picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
                                    When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
                                    This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                                    Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                                    Failure Symptom

                                    No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                                    Where is the short?

                                    Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

                                    Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
