    NS-LCD26A Picture/Screen Problem

    Hello All,
I am new here, I have an insignia NS LCD-26A. The television comes on but either has a white or scrambled screen. A few times I got the "no signal" message to display, but when I did the vertical hold was going crazy, I got to the menu and switched inputs but eventually everything becomes unresponsive. (see pics for some of the screens I get)

I am a big fan of collecting and repairing Pinball machines so I know my way around some soldering, a DMM, and I am familiar with most components. Any Help would be very appreciated.

That's not a tab issue. Looks like a timing control problem, so I would have to say t-con board.

I have also noticed that when the screen freezes it will start to burn out white, does that sound synonymous with a bad T Conn as well?

Upload a nice picture of your t-con. While your at it, reseat the ribbon cables on the t-con too.

here are some images, I didnt reseat the cable and reassemble yet, as you can see some winner at the factory squeezed silicone all over the other connection like they were icing a donut so I am afraid to disturb it as it may damage it.

I reseated the cable but it did not seem to help, I am just getting a black screen now. Also I am not getting sound I put sound through several input and kept changing inputs trying to get sound although there was nothing on screen, but no sound? Could this mean main board issue?

                Re: NS-LCD26A Picture/Screen Problem

If not the right silicone or some other goop is used, it turns either conductive, holds moisture, acidic and corrosive. Seen that many times. So be careful chipping that stuff off, as you don't want to damage nothing.

However, since you are not getting nothing right now you would have to really check the main board first. In order to figure out if the main board is still producing video, you would have to check the LVDS cable on a oscilloscope, while turning the menu on and off (to make a visible change on the screen, so you can see it on the oscilloscope). Or get a new main board and T-con.

Well the problem resolved itself when I place the television in the trashcan. Hate to say I am beat but the unit was someone's greasy old kitchen TV and it was not nice enough to invest in. Thanks so much for your help.

                            Bad panel
This is a standard defect of the matrix.

                                Check the control points.

Check resistance from point to point.

Wow, ton of responses since I tossed it out. I actually did recycle it, they take them for free in the town i live. Next time I will say I am throwing it out on the first post. Also I am sure it was not a tab issue, I checked that and I had no sound either, I am inclined to agree with capleaker here it was probably a T-conn and Main board issue, this unit was caked in grease and not worth the extra effort.
