    LG 60PC45 Plasma Problems

    Hi Everyone.

I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my old LG's issues..

Around a month or so ago, the set lost sound entirely, we were watching TV and there was a load "pop" from the speakers, then nothing.. Not too much of an problem as we use a freeview box and now route audio from that to an amp, but I thought I should mention it in case it has any bearing on the real problem...

A few nights ago whilst watching the TV suddenly started showing, for want of a better term.. "strobing" vertical lines about 1" wide over the entire screen. Initially they were Red, Blue and Green, but the last 5 or 6 times I have switched the set on the bars are a transparent grey/blackish. The bars do not move and the picture in between them looks fine.

I am loathe to throw it away unless really necessary, it had a really nice picture. I doubt I could actually "throw" it anywhere anyway on account of it weighing a ton!

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated..

    Thanks,

    Radial

Sounds like a mainboard fault. Try a factory rest.

          Re: LG 60PC45 Plasma Problems

I tried the factory reset, but no luck..

I found somewhere with mainboards for sale and also a company who are selling a "mainboard repair kit" which seems to consist of 6 caps?

Interestingly, when I tried it with no source, it had a jet black screen with a few random colour vertical lines, I hadn't seen that before. I think they were one pixel wide. When I switched the set off and on again they had gone and the usual grey/black transparent lines were back...

Is there anyway to test the main board, or should I just take a punt on a repair kit or a board?

I guess the next step is to whip the back off and have a look.

          Thanks again for the help.

LG 55LF652V-ZA flashing led bars despite their replacement
            by Akira81
            Hello everyone,

I have this 55" LG 55LF652V-ZA smart TV which suddenly started flashing intermittently every 2 seconds with the backlight.

If I aimed the light bulb of my cell phone I could see the underlying image even in those fractions of time when the LEDs were off and the audio instead came out continuously.

Armed with a lot of space and patience, I decided to open the TV, immediately noticing that a LED had flamed out and also burned a portion of that reflective white panel behind the transparent LED diffusers.

Samsung Plasma Intermittent Vertical Bars (repeatable) PN50B430
            by JesusJones
Trash picked this plasma for parts and found it had some bad solder joints. It powered on after reworking most of the boards and seems like it may even work.

The symptoms is, when showing a picture of bright (mostly white) intensity (within the affected area only) a vertical strip 2 3/4" wide will begin to fuzz out (just to the right of samsung logo, 16 3/8" from screen edge), and soon turns black (from top to bottom). Changing to a darker scene immediatley ater will cause the black stripe to fade back in (it fuzzes and clears up again) and it starts working just fine....

            USB problems?
            by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

            Panasonic TH-50PX60U Plasma Black Bars
            by canadaboy25
Hey guys, I have a Panasonic plasma here with two black rectangles in the display. As you can see from the picture, they affect the menus as well. Both black rectangles extend to exactly the center of the screen. I'm not super familiar with the workings of the display driver layout. Would this indicate a bad ribbon connection on the top and bottom boards? The TV has ribbons along the entire top and bottom of the display.

            Any ideas are appreciated....
