I picked up a Samsung UN46D6000SFXZA recently, I did so knowing it didn't work and needed to be diagnosed and repaired.
When the TV is plugged in the standby light does a double flash 5 times then goes solid for a few seconds and the cycle repeats. If I put my ear close to the power supply board I can hear what sounds like 5 clicks. The clicks happen while the standby light is solid red and the clicking stops while the light is flashing.
I did a bit of research and have taken the TV apart and performed some of the tests in this document. http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/...df&mfg=Samsung
When I disconnect the cable from the power supply board to the mainboard the back lighting does NOT light up. It acts in the exact same manner with the cable plugged in or unplugged.
I figured I would start by testing the two 5v pins. When I tested pin 4 of the power supply I had an intermittent reading. It would sit around 0.1v then spike to 3.1v and it seems as though the spikes were in time with the clicking sound coming from the power supply but its hard to say for sure because of how fast the readings were changing. So I went down the list and tested some of the low voltage pins too
Pin 1 shows no power
Pin 2 rests at .012v and spikes to 0.3v
Pin 3 shows no power
Pin 7 rests at 0.1v and spikes to 2.9v
Pin 9 rests at 0.6v and spikes to 1v
Pin 10 rested at 0.6v and would spike to 1v
I also tried disconnecting the T-con board and still had the same clicking sound and flashing standby light but I didn't check the power supply pin voltages at the time.
All the components on the board physically appear to be in OK condition, no discoloration or ballooned out capacitors. While I know this doesn't mean those components aren't bad, I just figured I would point it out. The model number on the power supply board is BN44-00423A.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and please let me know of any additional information I should provide.
