    Panasonic TC-P42X3 PSU Repair

Hello all. I have been trying to fix this TV that I purchased, and it has been nothing but a headache. The original symptoms were no power at all to the set. I used the Panasonic Training Guide combined with the service manual, as well as various posts from this forum concerning similar models to determine that the A Board was at fault. I sent the A board to ModusLink for repair, and when I reinstalled it, the relays starting clicking and I tried to power on the set. The TV went into locked mode with 14 blinks, which indicated either the P or A board was at fault.

Initially, I could not find any defects on the P board, so I went looking at the SN and SS boards and concluded that the SN board was shorted, so I purchased replacement boards for both. Those didn't work either, so I examined the P board once more and found that 2 diodes were broken, and one was shorted out. Now that I have found a real issue, my question is: How do I determine what kind of diodes to order? I have attached pictures of the board in question. D525 and D528 were broken, and D104 is the one that is shorted.

The reddish orange diodes do not have anything printed on them. The black one does but I've not unsoldered it to check at the moment. The only thing I see on the glass ones are a yellow stripe near the cathode. Extensive research has me thinking that they are silicon standard signal diodes, but I remain unsure. When using my DMM in diode mode, I get a reading of about 560, which I translate to be 0.56V, or the expected value of a silicon diode as read through a cheap multimeter. I just wanted to know if I could simply go to the RadioShack in town and find a suitable replacement, or do I need to special order the diodes in question. I admit that I have been "learning as I go" with regards to the few TVs I've repaired. The power board in question is a MPF6907. I have the schematics for it, but they haven't been much help. I have uploaded it in case anyone has any more information that could be of use.

The black diode maybe ok when removed and tested some diodes do read shorted on the board bur are ok with one side lifted and tested.

Just an update: After searching for hours looking for the part number of the 2 broken diodes, I stumbled across information indicating that were simply Panasonic brand switching diodes. So, today I went by RadioShack and picked up a pack of 1N4148 diodes and soldered them in, and for the first time ever, I saw the TV come to life!! After working on this TV for a month, it was quite a relieving moment. So far, the set is working fine.

For anyone who has this TV, I located a substitute for the impossible to find SN board, PN# TNPA5311AC. Rather than send my old board in to ModusLink, I opted to try PN#TNPA5311AE, normally found in a Sanyo DP42740, as the boards looked almost identical. I'm happy to report that the AE revision worked wonderfully. It also happened to be $70 USD cheaper as well. Thanks for the help people, I'm sure to be back soon when I acquire my next TV.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

            Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
            by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
            by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
