    Plasma TV issue

Hi there, I'm a new user on this forum and I am happy to be here. My issue is that my Vizio p50hdtv10a plasma TV turns on then shuts down after about 4 seconds. I disconnected the X sustain with the Y sustain plugged in but the TV still shut down, but when I turned it back on using the power button it stayed on. Then, I reconnected the X sustain and it shut down the first time, and the second time with the power button. While the TV was on with the X sustain disconnected, I tested the Vs and Va on the power supply using my multimeter and it was good. The standby volts is fine as well. So I'm assuming it's the X sustain board that's the problem. Do you think its the X sustain board or the Y sustain board, and how do you test those boards for shorts? I also checked the fuses and found that one was bad on the Y sustain board, even though the TV still turned on with the X sustain disconnected. I don't see any bulged capacitors on the boards. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the X sustain directly connects to the Y sustain to get its power and not the power supply. I posted a picture of the TV below.

1st. Check resistance of the power pin to gnd. Then look for burnt or damaged parts. Evidence of hot parts, fractured solder joints on mosfets that are attached to heat sinks. Shorted capacitor or diode. These are good starting points

If I remember the lower fuse supplies voltage to the ysus and the upper fuse supplies the zsus (xsus) via the wires that connect the two boards. if the upper fuse was open, I suspect the zsus board being shorted, usually the large ic under the heat sink.

It's the lower fuse that is blown, the upper one is fine.

If the lower fuse is blown I suspect one of the ysus ic's is shorted. they should be able to be checked in circuit if they are shorted, there are 2 ic's, some of their pins should be marked ground, so check between ground and the other pins and compare betwen the 2 ic's. I cant remember what the pinouts are on these.

So the x-sustain is fine right? Can the board be disconnected when testing it, and do I use continuity on my multimeter?

I will guess that it is ok, and yes use continuity on the meter, if the fuse blew, something blew it, usually one of the large ic's under the heat sinks is shorted, since this ysus uses 2 ic's it might only be one that is shorted, but like I said I cant remember how to check them, this is an LG panel that is used in this tv.
              the ic looks like this

I also heard that if you replace the y-sustain board then you have to replace the buffer boards as well. Is this true? I appreciate everyone's help on this thread.

How do you test the IPM modules for shorts, and do the buffer boards have to be replaced as well?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Samsug washing machine. Power supply DC41-00189a board issue
                    by Soulzink
                    Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

LG 50PJ350 plasma blowing Y-Sustain board
                    by Keshenatech1
Hi, I was wondering if there's anyone here with experience on the LG50PJ350 plasma or similar models? When it came in, it had 7 shorted mosfet outputs on the Y-sustain board, Q02, 04,11, 22, 24, 26, and 28 were all dead shorted. I replaced them with the exact same type, checked their surrounding area for other open and shorted components and didn't see any further problems. But as soon as I hit the power button on the remote, I had a loud Pop! and Q22, 24, 26, and 28 are shorted out again. The other 3 seem to have survived. Someone on another forum had suggested the possibility of a shorted panel....

Nikon D5 – dead, power board issue ?
                    by corrize
Hello, the DSLR has heavyly fallen. It is dead : no sign of life and display nothing.

When it worked, it always displayed a card present state on LCD display, even when the battery is empty it display a empty battery symbol.
I found a dead fuse, I replaced it and a mosfet burnt, I changed it and another fuse burned. Nothing burned after. And I can't find any short circuit anywhere, it's weird.

Now, I try to understand how it works.

There is two boards (the little one on pictures has no component) : the first is a « power board » : managing...

                    ASUS VG32UQA1A t-con board issue
                    by damndenis
                    Hello everybody,

This is my first post here, I've always loved to tinker with electronics, but never got in-depth with it. Hope I can learn a thing or two from this forum.

I've got a 31.5" Asus monitor which distorts/flickers at equal intervals of a couple of seconds. From what I've gathered, it's an issue with the T-CON board, but feel free to correct me. Shipping from the manufacturer would cost 3x as much as the part itself. I was wondering, if there is a way to diagnose the board itself and replace the faulty components? I'm good with soldering, but not at all...
