I have this tv, that will not power on, and has no backlight. I have no readings on the main cap, which is 400v. Any help would be appreciated before I buy another board from shop jimmy.

Re: Westinghouse 32h640g
Edit: WHOOPS, I read your first post as "the main cap has 400V on it", but after I posted I saw you said that it doesn't have any voltage on it, but it is rated for 400V. I must not be awake yet
See that green thing below R101? (left hand side of the image)
Test that to see if it is open circuit.
Also, test D601 to see if it is bad.

Re: Westinghouse 32h640g
Will update later, had to step away thanks for help so far. I had power supply outside of tv with no load on it, once I plugged power supply into sencore variac turned voltage to 80v I got 160v on big cap, I will plug power supply into set later and update.Comment

Re: Westinghouse 32h640g
OK, thanks for the pictures.
Please take the DCV readings of all the pins when the TV is plugged in and when power switch is activated.
Please list all pin names and the readings of each to make it easy for to see what are missing.Never stop learning

Re: Westinghouse 32h640g
That is measured with TV turned on? The booster circuit is turned on by the PS-ON which will make the Voltage on the cap jumps up from 160VDC to >360VDC if the PFC Voltage booster is working.
The booster circuit has to function for the 12V-24v POWER SUPPLY SECTION to work.Last edited by budm; 05-13-2015, 04:14 PM.Never stop learning

by chth96Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor.... -
by Keshenatech1I had been using a WS-WN523N2 to generate WiFi from my wired ethernet internet connection. Recently it needed to be power cycled more and more frequently so I decided to open it up. I found 2 bulged 470uf 16V capacitors in the low voltage output side of the unit's power supply. The 2 other capacitors in the high voltage side, a 4.7uf 400V and a 22uf 100V both read low ESR so I decided to replace them as well. The 4.7uf 400V is directly across the output of the full wave bridge and the 22uf 100V is on the other side of an inductor coming off of the positive side of the bridge, negative side directly...

by brispussPurchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.
Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.
I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),... -
Hi all! I'm a newbie to to the forum and electronics repair in general.
I picked up a nonfunctional ASRock Taichi X570 motherboard that someone threw away. My main goal is it to repair and use it. But even if it's not possible, I'd like to learn about the process.
I'd very much appreciate some guidance.
Here are the steps I've taken to diagnose the board:
I first tried powering the board without a CPU or memory. The lights turned on. As you'd expect, the board wouldn't boot.
Hoping the board worked, I bought a compatible CPU on amazon. I wanted... -
by budwichI have a drill and battery but no charger so I bought a "universal charger" 120ac in ... 12vdc out (not really universal in lithium world). Anyway it has three contacts, positive, negative and "T" (temperature sensor). I connected those contacts to the contacts on the battery. No charging happened and only the status light is on (green solid) which the label indicates "100% charged".... but the battery isn't near that at around 9v and dying. There doesn't appear to be any difference whether the battery is connected or not. I got suspicious and pulled the...
