Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice

So at this point the PNL_POWER is present at the T-CON and then drops out, if I read his finding correctly, and that larger connector also has the ERROR signal line feeding the main board to tell the condition of the T-CON also then.
It looks like the LP connector pin 10 (CONT_DET) may be the pin to tell the main board about the condition of the T-CON.
Pin 14 (LCDC_EN) is some kind of Enable command signal to turn something on in the T-CON.

Yes and on that smaller one is the 12.04v that goes to 0v when the error occurs .

        Which pin is that?

I have monitored the voltages on pins 10 and 14 of LP connector this is what i found.
Pin 10 (CONT_DET) is measuring 2.98v when set is off and stays stable at this voltage when set is switched on and remains at this voltage during error condition !
Pin 14 (LCDC_EN) is at 0v when set is off and remains at 0v when set is switched on when green power LED turns orange and flashes 9 times on about the 5th flash it rises to 0.58v and then buzzing then backlights flash on/off the voltage on pin 14 goes to 2.58v for a brief second and then goes back to 0v.

These measurements are the same on LP connector main board and on LW connector on T-CON board.

Pins 12 and 13 of the LP connector go to a Dual switch IC 2601 TC7W66U I am wandering weather this is failing to switch ?

Unfortunately i do not have one available to try this out ? I have tried to source it with no luck so far .

Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice new development on this set.

New development with this set !
After seeing a article on reseting the set due to being left idle for a while i thought i would give it a try.
Giving the reset operation i had tried before i had read you hold the volume down and the input buttons (on set) whilst plugging in the AC lead i did once get the backlights to stay on but nothing else, and also i did not have the remote then.
Now this other article said to hold the volume down and the channel down together whilst plugging in the AC lead and see if a K comes on screen and what to do if this happened.
After a couple of attempts i did not get the K on screen but did get the backlights to stay on and also the power LED to remain on a steady green, I then tried to plug in some leads from my sky box but unfortunately giving where i set it up the hdmi lead was not quite long enough so i plugged in the scart lead, i then used the remote and started pressing the input button to see what happened after a couple of presses i could hear sound from a program.
I then changed channels on the sky box to confirm it was sky.
I have not turned the set off since but have tried the volume button and confirmed the the volume control is functioning ok.
So what i have now is set on with sound and backlights but no picture and what i am wandering now would this confirm that the T-CON board is faulty or main board ?
The set has now been on for about half hour but still no picture ?

I have not yet tried any other buttons yet or the menu button waiting for any input before continuing any further ?

I have tried pressing on the computer ribbons going from the T=CON board to the LCD but nothing happening ?

Regarding your issue... can you try again with only one T-con ribbon now you have reset the set?

I have tried disconnecting one ribbon nothing happened i reinstated then disconnected the other ribbon still the same not even a flicker of a picture.
The set has stayed on all night. Could this be a T-CON failure ?

It does sound like it, there is a small chance the panel is bad but I would say that is very small.

If you have access to a scope you can rule out a main board fault by checking the LVDS lines for a signal.

                                          Hi Tom
I have placed a order for a T-CON board but it will take a few days to arrive.
So in the mean time i decided to dig out my old Oscilloscope from the loft (well wrapped of course) believe me it has been up there for quite a few years now and would you believe it still works ! .It is a Gould Advance SO250A-TV duel channel, and with it is a probe
                                          PM8927 10m ohm //11pf 1.5 ns 10:1 500v max .
Now looking at the main board in this set i can see some test points where i could check for signals just in front of the LVDS connecter ? But unfortunately the service manual that i downloaded (kindly supplied by budm) does not give any of this info regarding what state to have set in and what range to have the scope in i:e DC/AC volt range time range?
I know this is a bit of a tall order but it has been a very long time since i used a scope as you can see from my profile i was out of the trade for a long time and was more used to CRT models and these LCD/PLASMA's are a new adventure for me but starting to really enjoy it now.
If this is to much to ask not to worry but thank you for your time anyway.
It would be nice to test for these signals for future reference ? I will try and add a picture from google what my scope looks like from the front.
