Extremely pricey TBH for a repair on these TV's tw.

The IGBT's and diodes are tough to get off on these boards.. The copper plane is big and acts as a good heatsink (Tho not good enough to stop them failing!) I tried with hotair alone and jeez did they take some heat! Ended up using my IR machine to do them.

Yes seen a fair few broken boards from attempted repairs mainly lifted traces etc which yes are repairable but not want you want to be dealing with... My advice is if you don't have much experience in soldering to get them done properly otherwise you may scrap your board.

For sure we know the parts can be had very cheap, but is it worth failing throwing money and damaging the board or go the safe path and get a pro?

wHAT'S ONE OF THESE WORTH USED IN THE uk?

Anyway, converted to my speak that's $200 and you could probably get a working 2nd hand for that here.

Bit surprised you find it hard to get them off. i get away with a 40W iron, tin the tab and broad tip. run the tp back and forth along the tab until you see the sides bubbling and off. I lift the legs first OR snip them. does take a while for the heat to get there.

It is really but thanks for the suggestion. I know there is a place around 5 miles from me - Watford - that are advertising to refurbish the SN board for £99.

To be honest I'll probably just buy a new tv as my wife will get impatient soon.

Thing is I enjoy working on stuff even though I don't really need to.

I can buy the 30F131s locally for £20 inc tax & postage.

Anyway, one way or the other I'd like to remove the board and get started.

What are my chances if I just replace the 4 shorted 30F131s do you suppose?

Most likely pop the board again if you swap only the IGBT's.

              possibly.

I've done a 50U30 - just 4 x 30f131, 50ST30 3 RJP30H2 and 2 of 3 30f131 failed and that was it. hard to put odds on whether it needs more or not

Flocko would have a good idea on what else to check and it's hard to guide blind especially since you don't have electronics background

Interesting, it does sound as if I might do more harm than good, given the various different possible pitfalls.

Many thanks for all your time and help with this TW, it's really helped me to think it through; much appreciated!

I'm going to ponder a while and either get the SN refurbed or bite the bullet and get a new LED tv.

your call, would be great to DIY, but these boards are near impossible to get so a good core board for repair is something to keep in mind if you want to keep the cost down otherwise you'll need to find complete board for sale not just a repair service.

If i were you i would repair this tv instead of buying a LED tv. But thats my opinion

Panasonic plasma's look much better then a led screen!
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Plus LED is just the backlight, same old LCD panel. The 50' panny LED LCD at work is total crap, worst picture and color is horrible, very cheap inside these too and $1000 TV! I think it 50A430

mainboard is a joke compared to the past but it is base model FHD

replacing the bolts on these boards is a good idea too, wrong type used and they work loose, poor earthing and could also be part of the problem.

search my profile and threads started for the 50s30 i think I listed it as which is a fib, we have u30 same panel and boards really. I have some photos of arc marks and the bolts

Thanks TW, and for the other later comments, I think pro refurbing sounds sensible.

The picture quality on these 2011 panels is really good. It beats most other plasmas except my Kuro, and exceeds every LCD/LED-LCD I have seen.

Just about to remove the SN board and realised that it contains 250v caps.

I've bought a couple of 2.2k ohm 5w resistors for discharging and understand that I should hold them with insulated pliers.

What I'm not sure about is how to tell that they are discharged properly.

Can I use my analogue multimeter on the caps terminals? If so, what setting should I use?

I've bought a couple of 2.2k ohm 5w resistors for discharging and understand that I should hold them with insulated pliers.

What I'm not sure about is how to tell that they are discharged properly.

Can I use my analogue multimeter on the caps terminals? If so, what setting should I use?
for future, if I saw a cap with 250V you would set the meter to at least that voltage. Since these are polarised they're DC with the with band dictating the negative side

Vsus or the voltage going into SN2 can be up to 215V-220v on some models

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                                            Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light

                                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                            Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
