      Good morning,
Many thanks for replying and the useful links. The one is Caerphilly is not too far away however no distant cousin , theres a few of us here in Wales.
I will give them a call later.
As mentioned in my ealier post I dont think I have the dexterity to make the repair/replacement myself but probably OK to remove the board and send off.
I came across this service yesterday:

were you able to test C842 as indicated in the red warning print: QUOTE "Please do check resistance across C842 (it's visible on second picture), if resistance is zero or close to zero your board have got faulty at least one buffer chip and then I will not issue full refund" It is not clear what the repair is he's talking about, if its just 8 washers you can get those for a buck or so at the hardware, He might be saying if you have a bad buffer chip then it's no deal, may want to contact them and see exactly what the repair consists of.

this might be a better bet, looks to be the same part number TNPA5349, see if it matches yours, maybe contact the seller and see if they know if it will work for your particular tv, hard to tell what the shipping is, it may have calculated the shipping to the U.S. not sure, will probably be different to the U.K.: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255428487...Bk9SR-r5y6v_YA

One of the local members on this forum may have that board and can beat the price? never know.

not a fan of getting anything from china, they burn HUGE amounts of coal unrestricted and unfiltered from what I read and saw on the news and youtube, but there's aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-tnpa5349.html

I did make sure that my last oil filter wasn't made in china, so that's a good start.

Many thanks for the replies. Shipping from anywhere other than the UK is prohibitive and to be honest I can buy another used 42" TV for about the £50 but thats not the point, its about avoiding waste and land fill and maximising utilisation.
Will have a go at the C842 test and let you know.
I did talk to a couple of reasonably local TV repairers withiout any joy most want £50 just to look at it and dissmiss the fault diagnosis that I've come to with the valid help of his forum.

The Tronic bay link is very interesting, I havn't seen that before..

I understand, I don't like adding to the landfill either, worse thing about plasmas to me is the weight, about 5 times heavier than an led tv and they use a whole lot more electricity, I don't know whats worse, adding to landfill or using the extra power.

No, we don't bury electronics in the UK nowadays, it wouldn't end up in landfill.

                            Good evening again,
Found C842 after 1/2 hour of searching.
                            How do I test this?
The most obvious place (to me) is the contact at about 3 oclock on the 'C842 bottom' image as attached. I get about 145K ohms between that and ground/chasis.

I did have a look at the Shop Jimmy video but this exact model is not listed.....

                            On going help appreciated.

the only way I know is to remove the board and check across the 2 legs of the capacitor from the soldered side, if you do, ALWAYS put ALL the screws back in securely before turning tv on, they are important to grounding and NONE should be left loose or out, it can short out the board.

good policy to leave the tv unplugged for a few hours before removing boards and be careful what you touch, it can hold a charge for quite a while.

I believe that test is to determine if the buffer chips are ok, it looks to me that the ad you referred to, they are trying to sell 8 washers, might want to steer clear of that one.

ok, now the question is does he mean that he can only fix it if it has the exact 7 flashes, or can there be 6 or 4 etc?

yes, maybe call or email them and see if they deal with the number of flashes that you have.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

                                            by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                                            Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

                                            Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                                            by Alicat
                                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                            Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
