Sony KDL-40hx723 5 blinking lights.

Hello

I was repairing my tv double image fault and I almost fix it if I had not accidentally misplaced the panel's ribbon cable to the Tcon header.

I heard an electric noise (like a short) and the panel went blank. Now , every-time I try to turn on the tv the green light comes on for a fraction of a second and then the red standby light flashes 5 times then goes off for a couple of seconds and then it does 5 times again then 2 seconds off... It repeats those 2 steps indefinitely.

Now, do you think I fried the Tcon, psu , mainboard or the led lcd panel?

If I fried the latter, then I am in a lot of trouble.

Check the SMD fuse on the T-CON board first, then check and see if you have 12VDC on both ends of the fuse.

Show us good clear pictures of the T-CON board then we can point it out to you.

I can see at least two in your picture, picture is kind of dark.

I see. To check the 12volts do I have to reconnect and turn the tv on?

You can check the resistance first, it should show as short (same resistance reading as when your meter probes shorted together).
Then check the DCV when TV is turned on, just do not let the probes slip on you (Black probe on the chassis).

Now it turns on but the panel displays white screen with fainted images on background.

That looks like the GAMMA Voltages are bad.

This board does not use the AS15 Gamma chip, it also does not give any test points to test the Gamma Voltages so I cannot really give you any suggestion as to what part and where to test the Voltages.
You may look to see if the good replacement board can be had for reasonable price and have good return policy.

Mate, you are a veteran. You cannot leave me like that. I need someone who can tell me which part I should replace.

Well I cannot tell by the pictures of what is/are damaged, there are no labels test points, no designator for the components (I.E. the fuses, it does not even have the label like F1 ,F2 for the fuses) with label. They just do not want you to be able to do even testing Voltages.

My Sony kdl-40hx723 is not powering on, red light blinks 5 times. After leaving it on power for few minutes and then press the power button the TV powers on to a completely white screen for about 3 seconds and then off again and it starts blinking 5 times. What could be the problem please

Try a t-con board replacement.

So far I have replaced the t-con and the main board but nothing has changed
