Samsung LNT4642HX/XAC equally spaced white lines on screen

Those vertical lines (with some flickering horizontal lines) are on top of the pictures being displayed. I thought it was the T-CON board not working properly and have it replaced with a new one. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. (note: when I turned on the TV with the new T-CON board, there was a big sharp noise from the TV; similar to the noise of a blowing a light bulb)

Anyway, I tested the T-CON Board with one side connected and repeated with the other side, Left and Right connector to the LCD panel. It seems that both sides are having the same problem ie once connected, white lines displayed on screen.

I went on to look for soldering cracks on the main board, and re-soldered those connector pins on the back..just in case. And also used hair dryer to kind of "reflow" the bga processor chip (but not sure if I had done it correctly).

I then checked the Power Board and the well known Samsung Capacitors are looking good..ie no pops up and still shinny....on the safe side, I have all capacitors replaced with the new ones. The white lines are still there.

I tried the input source on cable and DVD. The effects are the same. I reseated all connectors and no loosely connections are to be found. ..including the TABs on the panel..I still believe the LCD panel is working fine because if it were the problem with the tabs and its connected logic board; logically speaking, I should not have white lines across the WHOLE screen; only a portion it; and chances that both logic boards are both not working are very slim ie the source of those white line "signals" must be originated from the main board..graphic chip..!!

There are only 3 main boards there..Power control, T-CON and main board....I ran out of potential failure point..the backlight, inverter board is working fine on both sides of the TV..

    Any suggestions please ?

ps. I have a new T-con board on its way in a week time and I shall update the thread in due course too.

that most certainly looks like a main board failure I don't think its your tcon.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

This looks like a bad mainboard to me, the only sure fire way to test this is to enter the service menu and run the test patterns.

Turn the TV off and with a Samasung remote hit they keys in this order, Mute 1, 8, 2, power and you should be taken to the hidden menu.

Here you will need to figure out on your own were the test patters are. (DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS HERE) the changes are permanent and cannot be undone unless you know what you have changed and change it back in this hidden menu.

Re: Samsung LNT4642HX/XAC equally spaced white lines on screen

Thank you very much guys. I entered the mute, 182 and power on button on the remote. It took me to a menu with lots of options..

Can you advise which option to take to run the test patterns ? Or I have the wrong menu ?

I tried the reset option, but the white lines are still coming up.

        Thanks.

Oh sorry. If the test patterns mentioned is to do with the calibration of the "white balance" option. I tried that before too. ie I set the contrast to value of 75 and brightness at 150 as this was mentioned on the internet to make the white lines go away.. But it did not work in my case for some reasons.

          Sorry about this guys.

FBE2 option, look in there. The test patterns will be solid colors, red/blue/green/black/white and several funky other display patterns that have meaning but we just need to see if any of them are affected with these lines.

Take a photo of the options in FBE2.

Hello Shinju, much appreciated for your advice and support. I went thru the FBE2 options and took some pictures of test patterns for your kind reference.

The white lines were all disappeared for some reasons and as if the screen is working properly and fine.

Thanks again and have a good day.

                Just a quick update:

Hello Guys, I got the new T-CON board this afternoon and have it replaced with the old one. Those vertical white lines are still there. So I guess the problem, as suggested, is to do with the main board.

Attached please find the photos taken with the new T-CON board installed.

most certainly looks like a mainboard failure to me. you can always try reflowing the main processor on the main board or try some heat on it to see if the problem disappears

Hello freakaftr8, thanks for your advice. I tried to apply "some heat" on those processors on the main board using the hair dryer..I guess it was pretty hot on both side of the main board anyway. It didnt work. Those white lines are still there. May be I did not do the "heat work" properly. I guess the only way to find out is to get another main board. Any other suggestions that I can do now please ? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello, I saw some threads on using 10 ohms resistor solution to fix LCD TV lines problem, but I could not really work out from which point on the driver board to be soldered and where it ends on the other side..

I cut and paste the links here for completeness of discussion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...cQ2PQpyKQ&NR=1 is another one about the same fix

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVsv3...eature=related i think this is the original video i saw months ago where someone was selling the instructions

                      Any suggestions please ?

Colorful LCD Vertical Lines on Samsung ue55es8090
                            by Falki
Hello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.

I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.

I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..

A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...

SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H - White horizontal lines / red LED flashes four times
                            by thstuff
This "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.

Thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1091829 helped in proceeding as follows:
                            1) Unplugged, then plugged set in while holding the remote VOL- and Power to factory reset.

                            2) Waited 30 seconds, then pressed remote Power button and "Select language"...

                            Samsung QE50Q67TAU - horizontal lines
                            by Rubenlily
                            Hello,

First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:

I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.

I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.

I'm no expert but I've done the tape...

                            Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...
