Hmm--without a signal driving the t-con/screen--From a Mainboard--you cant tell if its any good anyway!
--lighting it up will tell you no more than glass-cleaner and a strong light/sunlight will!

not to dig up old posts. Put I put a 10k Resistor on pin 16 to ground and the backlights have been on all day so far.

It appears the controller IC on that board is faulty.

As a test--I pulled that green board off the PSU and checked to see if the main LED supply was still present--It was, although low at 79V

For a larf, I rigged this low supply direct to the LED strings.

The set works!--BUT has a dimmish lack-luster picture.....

        Hi,

Thanks for your informative posts on this issue.
My 4500 is now doing the same and I too have narrowed this down to the ic. Now I'm not an electronics guru like many of you! I'm a lowly mechanic but I do enjoy fixing things and saving money!

I read your post with interest on removing the driver board and running a feed directly to the LED strips. As the tv is in the bedroom I would be perfectly happy with the lower brightness caused by the voltage drop.

Could you please give me some pointers on this so I can carry out this mod? Pictures would be perfect?

I can solder fine and follow tracks and read voltages etc.

        Thanks very much

Would like to know more about this if possible?

I wonder if City is referring to the pin 16 of the IC (which IC?) or pin 16 of the connector (which connector?).

Its not the Ics that fail. Something else on the driver goes bad but cant find out for the life of me what it is

                      Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
                      by Rictech
                      Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...

                      • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                      • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                      • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                      • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
                      by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

                      I made the following tests:
                      1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
                      2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

ESR meter came to the rescue again today with a PLC I/O card fault
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have been having a fun time at work with two pieces of equipment that had shorted components or shorted component cables to machine frame
I would check what my multi meter was telling me about how many ohms I getting with the multi meter was telling versus the ESR was telling me about weather or not it really was a short to machine ground or not

One note at first we thought that it might be a bad I/O card or a malfunction PLC including me as well but I thought I would try and see if removing the I/O cables would make a difference or not and this time it did make a difference...

                      VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
                      by bpcannan
                      'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...
