Re: Lg 42LE4500 losing backlights
I am terribly sorry for the confusion. I must have had a few LG backlight trouble threads open at the same time and posted my ramblings onto the wrong one. I apologize for any grief i've caused. That chip on the one I was referring to was a BD9483F, and the Pin I was referring to is the fault output pin. I found a fault output pin for the CORRECT CHIP you guys are using if you want to try it and see if there could be similar results. Its #44. Sorry again for the confusion, will be more careful next time.

Re: LG 42LE4500, Int No Backlights...
not to dig up old posts. Put I put a 10k Resistor on pin 16 to ground and the backlights have been on all day so far.

Re: Emerson LF401EM5
I know what you mean, its hard to charge a reasonable amount when ordering new boards, I'm really glad this fix was a simple one because most customers won't put $120 into a $249 TV, and I cant comfortably sell one with warranty knowing that the LEDs will certainly go out at some point. Can't wait to see what the EM6 main boards from emerson have in store for us.

Re: Emerson LF401EM5
No I found one to replace it with, I was just curious if it would work without the cap present. Thanks for the link.

Re: Emerson LF401EM5
I thought about leaving it out but replaced it with similar cap, did you find a schematic for this main?

Emerson LF401EM5
Was making a chirping beeping sound when trying to power on. AMP+13V Line shorted to ground. C3637 just below the black ribbon connector on main board is shorted.

Re: Post The Led Backlights Your Fixing Here.
I do at least one backlit LED TV per week, sometimes more. I have 3 alone waiting for me tomorrow when I get to the shop. Have given up on the strips, even shopjimmy strips fail in time so I have started just replacing the individual LED's so I know which ones are good. Charging customers 100 for labor because of how hard they are to get to, and 5 per LED which are cheap enough at Mouser.

Re: LF501EM5F No Power, Chirping/Beeping Transformer
C3214 is shorted on these main boards its underneath L3201 above the black ribbon connector. It took me 5 hours and a hot air gun but finally cleared the short from P-ON+21V to ground. Hopefully nobody else has to go through that, I can still hear the diode check beep in my sleep. Sets will power on now, I haven't found a replacement yet but will keep you posted.
Put small like sized cap from part graveyard in place of C3214 and is working perfect again.Last edited by citywidetvtech; 06-23-2016, 03:47 PM.

Re: RCA LED50B45RQ question on getting to the LED strips
Lay it face down, its much easier to pull the back off of the front, and make sure you tape the board connected to the screen down so that those flux connections dont get pulled loose (already got the T-Shirt from that on my first RCA).

Re: Weird shadows on lcd screen KDL-32L4000
Had a 37" version of that tv come through the shop a couple weeks ago. Set came on but had a strange dark shadow starting from halfway up the left side and continued across to the bottom right corner of the screen, and another shadow across the bottom 1/3 of the screen, the two intersected. It turned out to be water damage and apparently absorbed between the layers of the screen. Disassembled and cleaned then put back together and it looked fine. Hope this might help somehow.
