The diode is in parallel with a resistor, to test it you need to partially lift off the diode. As for the resistor, the only R604 is bottom below chip, do you mean that one?

yeah the resistor underneath it, can you see markings on it in 2nd pic.?

Lifted the diode, lifted pin nearest resistor..with red on lifted black on other im getting 580 but it fluctuates
      Other way im getting 130..

Are you testing across the diode you partially removed? Or just the board?

just across the diode, one pin still attachted to the board - will i remove it altogether and test.?

One pin should be fine. Diode could be leaky then so worth replacing. Something like 1N4148W would work.

Okay - got the bits today, MOSFET, IC and diode - popped them all in, replaced fuse..

Powered on, and a spark came from the board, not 100% sure as it was pretty quick but i think it was from one of the thermistors above the bridge rectifier, it definetly came from something around that area..

Any ideas on where i start re-testing or am i just fighting a losing battle.?

                Re: Philips 42PFL5522D/05 Not Powering

I am just saying... at SJ I think you can buy a replacement board for 35$. Depends on you if you want to continue on fixing the old or just replace.
Check the inner to pins of the bridge rectifier for a short.

Yeah i saw that, be the handiest option alright but id rather be able to fix these things, but i guess replacing the boards will have to do until i learn the craic..

Got the new board from SJ, working grand initially but then the tv starts making noise, and then starts flashing, gets really quick then finishes with a black line down the middle and no flashing..

                    Any ideas..?

Can you make a pic of your Tcon board?

Will do - be an hour or so, until then ive uploaded a vid of the sound it makes when flashing - may be some help, sound is coming from psu..

this is a board from sj and i still have old one so i can switch a few components if need be..

                            thanks again..
