not having a go, just not willing to shell out that much, plus I need 4 LEDS not 3. have a local recycling place that may be able to get me a full strip for a Tenner.

Also I have tried to add here everything I have done to get mine working in the hope it will help others!

Disconnect connections from leds, test whether strips are receiving voltage by testing connector pins to leds. You may find that no power is transferred.

search the web for a company called Charles hyde and son in Pocklington , you can buy a brand new strip for £11 far better than paying £10 for a secondhand one that you dont know how long it will last.

Thanks mate, in all I would need 3 strips if I was to just replace them like for like. I have ordered 4 LEDS from flocko, so will fit them first.

OK, so I am back up and running!
Screen is good, unfortunately flocko your LED's didnt arrive today, but I got a 9 LED STRIP from a 40" from a friend that works at the local recycling place for FREE!

Screen Backlight is set to 12 in the Menu (max is 20) so I'm hoping it will be good to go for a few more years, and I have a few spare LEDS just in case ;-)

screen is fine for what I need and I will sell flockos LEDS on, so if anyone needs them PM me.

Thank You for all the help and advice in getting me sorted!

Most of the stuff on the internet is out of date anyway ! When I type in TV repairs in my loacal area apart from me it comes up with 4 other shops, one closed down 10 years ago, the other passed away over 2 years ago, and the other 2 went out of business .

                              What an arse I am!

Swapped out the LEDS that flocko sent, all good, but got some dust in the screen, so stripped it down, to see that it was clear before full assembly, I managed to pull the right hand screen ribbon out whilst powered on, now the screen wont come back on, have I damaged the T-Con board or the LCD panel?!?! the Fuse on the T-Con board appears good. if I connect the powere with only one side of tcon board to LCD I get a clear screen with Lines on it but not HALF The picture as expected...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply

I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

This Samsung combined power supply and inverter was replaced a while ago from a Samsung 37inch LE37B530P7W TV. However I would like to repair this one.
I have replaced the Mosfets Q1820 and Q1821 ( FDPF7N50U) which were both blown and the fuse FM802S. The schematic for this power supply that is attached doesn't relate to this power supply as the driving transistors and diodes are D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 are nowhere on the schematic!
Does anyone know what the components for D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 should be? I ask as I did change the Mosfets...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
                                            by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...
