UE55D7005 - power board lightning damaged

    Hello,
I need some help with my samsung tv. It got struck by lightning the other day, and I think I have found the part that "got it". However it is blown and I can't read the part number/name. Please look at pictures below for reference. Can anyone help me identify this part? Also, I noticed something else that didn't look so good. If someone could look at that as well and tell me if it also needs replacing that would be great Please ask if further info is required.

Can you post the board part number of the destroyed part.
Did you try cleaning off the burn with IPA- if you can see any letters /numbers at all it would help.
If by the other part you mean the transformer with brown on the wires that is probably ok

Sorry for the triplepost, but I can't seem to find the "Edit post" button anywhere.

Anyhow, I have a quick follow up/off topic question: The solder on the heatsink was damn hard to get off.. My soldering iron could melt the solder I had on hand easily, it barely dented the solder on the heatsink. What are they using? How can I get it off more easily?

Use 60Watts iron with wide tip and add the solder and flux to the joints that you are trying to remove.
That blown part is the SMPS IC, I have a feeling that there are more damaged parts on the board that may not show any sign of damages. The main board may also be damaged also.

On this forum you can only edit posts for about 1 hour after you post - the edit
                button then disappears.
If you have a 45watt iron sometimes preheating the area with a hairdrier and working in a warm room can help. Also adding a bit of leaded solder can help melt unleaded solder

                    a FSFR1800XSL - is that incorrect/ superseded

The P/N, it is FSFR1800XSL as shown in the diagram.
                      It is FSFR series.

Ok, will try to add solder and flux when I get the part. Does this paste deteriorate over time? I haven't used mine in years.

The fuse right next to the component broke. (FM802S) Could this have been a saving grace for other components?

Thank you for all your replies so far. This truly is a lovely forum.

I have now replaced the part and the fuses. And it worked!!
Thank you guys very much with the advice on adding flux and leaded solder, it really worked magic.

Yeah, I was. I believe, with my rather limited knowledge, that the 10 cent 3.15A fuse saved it all
