May be its time to get Cap meter that can do capacitance and ESR testing if you are going to do more repair works.

Nice ta get a win every now and again!!

I was going thru some old boards and found a comparable .47uf Poly cap.... The voltage was a bit lower, but I figured for testing purposes.....

Hooked it in and the unit came up nice as you please!!

Get the right ones ordered from DigiKey and replace the test one...

It's good to know that it's just that one little part and not the whole board or even worse.. The display!!!

Time ta throw a few into the BadCaps' kitty...

A reasonably priced meter is DER EE DE-5000 just have a look on ebay for it
runs about $90 or so.

I thought that PSU looked familiar. I had an LN52C530S1FXZA (similar) with that exact same cap, with that exact same bulge, replaced the cap and it worked like a charm! That C530 of mine even picked up CIII in Bancroft, Ontario CA and a whole host of other TV stations both analog and digital up and down the east coast, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Miami, Las Vegas and Rapid City SD this year during E-Skip season.

I am in southwest Missouri BTW
