    Another Samsung Another Audio-But-No-Display Issue

I am beginning to think I have a SamSung curse.. Every time I touch one, it won't fix...

    Samsung LN46C600....

At first I thought it was a plasma because it's A)Heavy and 2) Has metal back...

    But, nope.. It's an LED/LCD...

I get sound, but no display... Read thru available LN46C600 threads...

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/search...archid=4308173

Strong flashlight shows display is present, so it's a backlight issue...

One post from BudM stood out...

BN44-00341B from TOM66. This board has pull-up resistors, so if you unplug the cable between power supply and the main board, the backlights should come on when you plug TV into the AC outlet.

On this set, I unplug the main board from the power board and plug in.. Don't get any kind of light, flicker or anything....

Before I tear into the unit down to the bare backlights, I was hoping there was something else I can check first...

In reading thru the afore mentioned threads, I read about the guy who invoked the wrath of Zues when checking the large caps...

Want to avoid that if at all possible..

T minus 5 days until my Rigol DS1074Z arrives

For this I have something special. I took an clip lead, cut it in half and soldered it to a 5W 100 Ohm ceramic wire wound resistor. Put that on the caps, wait a few seconds and there shall be no more
Then I proceed with my LCR meter.

OK, without cable between the main board and the power supply board, check to see if you do have standby A5V, if you do then check and see if you do have >360VDC (you need to have this Voltage) on the main filter cap (check the DCV right at the two legs of the cap), if you do, then check the fuse FS802S.

        FS802S checks out...

I do get 5v on the standby A5V when the cable between the main board and the power board is disconnected..

I am working up the courage to check the big 450V capacitor..

just do not touch anything with your hands or body, and do not let the probes slip out on you.

                Yea, already ordered..

Nice Pomona clips with good insulation.. Checking voltages always scares me the crap...

Going into town tomorrow and picking up some generic ones to tide me over..

OK, PFC is working, now I need to look at the inverter circuit section next.

I assume that the arrow points to the Negative??

The access to the pads is somewhat limited... Is there any special trick to checking it??

It is non-polarized cap. You will have to remove it to check the capacitance.
BTW, you never did see the backlights even flash on for second?

May be its time to get Cap meter that can do capacitance and ESR testing if you are going to do more repair works.

                                          Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some timeβ€”like after playing a gameβ€”the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

                                          Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

I purchased a used Samsung TV model UA65JS9000W recently knowing it had an issue with the screen. When switched on the picture was bright both sides of the screen but a little darker in the middle of the screen. Thinking this was the back lights (side mounted LCD strips) I replaced these, however the issue is still there. I am now thinking it may be a TCOM issue, but am not sure, any advice on this would be appreciated. Also whilst changing out the back lights I noticed the the thick clear plastic sheet (maybe 1.5 to 2mm thick) below the diffusers there is cracking (up to 75mm) on the sides and...

                                          Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...
