I just Picked up this TV. I would really like to fix it. I turn it on and get 5 red blinks. I understand this error means T-Con but I was also told it could be a panel. I will take some pictures when I get the back off and post them as well.

Check and see if you have 12VDC at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON.Never stop learning

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
would I test this while the tv is in standby or when it is in error blinking? I have found 4 fuses on the t-con. F8001 power in and F8002 out to Main Board. and then two smaller fuses on the board. I have tested continuity on all 4 fuses and they test good.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
Have the meter connected to the fuse and then hit the power switch to see if it did jump up to 12V for seconds and drops down.
According the error code 5-blinks is not necessary the T-CON, it is labeled as Doubtful.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
I connect the meter to the fuse and it doesn't move. it switches so fast from green to red blinking. so I start with it in standby so the tv has a red led solid and then I turn the tv on and it blinks green for a half second and then red blinking.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
If you look at page 64, it is more likely no the T-CON.
I cannot find the SCH for your power supply boards:
Sony 1-474-305-11 (DPS-76, DPS-76(CH), 1-883-923-11) G7 Board
Sony 1-474-330-11 (APS-299/C, APS-299/CW(CH)) G6 Power Supply Board

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
I have ordered a Sony 1-474-305-11 (DPS-76, DPS-76(CH), 1-883-923-11) G7 Board. this is the board that the Sony service manual suggests replacing. I think I will check some of the parts on the old board and see if I can find a bad part.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
so the new board didn't make any difference. so I decided to go back to the troubleshooting diagram. I tested pin 1 at cn6001 that is suppose to be 12v and I only get 3.2. so it looks like something on the main G board. any ideas on what to test first?Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
Ok so on CN6101 I test on pin 1 power on I am getting 3.4 vdc
on pin 10 stby I am getting 3.3 vdc and on all of the 12 volt pins I am getting 10.8vdc
I am thinking that I should have 12 volts to run the main board. when I press the power button the power on drops to 0.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
no I haven't I think that I am not suppose to have 390volt on the main filter caps while the tv is in standby. I think it is a problem with either the main G6 power board or the BATL main board. I think I am suppose to hear a click when the tv turns on and I don't get that. I thought at first that it could be a panel. but I have disconnected the panel from the t-con and the tv still does the immediate shutdown and 5 blinks. I have searched for a new G6 board but having troubles finding the exact replacement. I might have to put this one aside and start on the 52" Samsung.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
ok I removed the Power_on wire which is pin one on the power supply cn6101. Now when I plug in the tv the red light blinks 2 times instead of going solid (standby). The voltage on the main filter caps is 169. I have included pictures of this connectorAttached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks
ok I ordered a new G6 Power board and tested. Darn still not working. I did pull out the trusty magnifying glass and took a look at the main board real close. I found on one of the HDMI connectors that there was a problem and on the inside of the connecter there was damage to the pins. I will order a main board and see if this will resolve all the issues.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

by iglitareHi,
i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.
Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted... -
by thelankanguyThe TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?... -
by GoodCapDudeHi everyone. First post on Badcaps!
I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot.... -
by bbrainHi,
I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.
Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?
Thanks in advance!... -
by NicktronicHi all,
I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?
Any Sony experts out there that can help??... - Loading...
