    Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks

I just Picked up this TV. I would really like to fix it. I turn it on and get 5 red blinks. I understand this error means T-Con but I was also told it could be a panel. I will take some pictures when I get the back off and post them as well.

Check and see if you have 12VDC at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON.

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks

would I test this while the tv is in standby or when it is in error blinking? I have found 4 fuses on the t-con. F8001 power in and F8002 out to Main Board. and then two smaller fuses on the board. I have tested continuity on all 4 fuses and they test good.

Have the meter connected to the fuse and then hit the power switch to see if it did jump up to 12V for seconds and drops down.
According the error code 5-blinks is not necessary the T-CON, it is labeled as Doubtful.

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks

I connect the meter to the fuse and it doesn't move. it switches so fast from green to red blinking. so I start with it in standby so the tv has a red led solid and then I turn the tv on and it blinks green for a half second and then red blinking.

If you look at page 64, it is more likely no the T-CON.

I have ordered a Sony 1-474-305-11 (DPS-76, DPS-76(CH), 1-883-923-11) G7 Board. this is the board that the Sony service manual suggests replacing. I think I will check some of the parts on the old board and see if I can find a bad part.

so the new board didn't make any difference. so I decided to go back to the troubleshooting diagram. I tested pin 1 at cn6001 that is suppose to be 12v and I only get 3.2. so it looks like something on the main G board. any ideas on what to test first?

Ok so on CN6101 I test on pin 1 power on I am getting 3.4 vdc
on pin 10 stby I am getting 3.3 vdc and on all of the 12 volt pins I am getting 10.8vdc
I am thinking that I should have 12 volts to run the main board. when I press the power button the power on drops to 0.

not sure if I am suppose to, But I am getting 390vdc on the main filter caps while in standby. I need some help to determine if I need to purchase power supply or mainboard?

Did you ever pinpoint the problem?

no I haven't I think that I am not suppose to have 390volt on the main filter caps while the tv is in standby. I think it is a problem with either the main G6 power board or the BATL main board. I think I am suppose to hear a click when the tv turns on and I don't get that. I thought at first that it could be a panel. but I have disconnected the panel from the t-con and the tv still does the immediate shutdown and 5 blinks. I have searched for a new G6 board but having troubles finding the exact replacement. I might have to put this one aside and start on the 52" Samsung.

Remove the PS_ON wire from the connector and see, if do you still have that 390V on the capacitor.

ok I removed the Power_on wire which is pin one on the power supply cn6101. Now when I plug in the tv the red light blinks 2 times instead of going solid (standby). The voltage on the main filter caps is 169. I have included pictures of this connector

it is almost like the tv PS_ON is stuck so when you plug in the tv even though it is in standby the supply has its full voltage on the hot side

ok I ordered a new G6 Power board and tested. Darn still not working. I did pull out the trusty magnifying glass and took a look at the main board real close. I found on one of the HDMI connectors that there was a problem and on the inside of the connecter there was damage to the pins. I will order a main board and see if this will resolve all the issues.

I would make sure, that there is no short first, then measure again. Don't just jump and order boards.

The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                                          It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                                          Thanks in advance!...

                                          Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?

Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
                                          a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
                                          b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
