Re: Samsung UE46C8000 Horizontal Dark Lines across screen

Ok another strange symptom i have noticed recently - As i am browsing the service menu, the horizontal banding is no longer uniform - On some screens it is perfectly uniform, on some others it is closer / further away in some areas. I will try and get a picture tomorrow but it gives me some hope that it may not be the panel...

Speaking of panels, i have looked at my C7000 and my C8000 and the panel models are:

      C7000: 46A2UF7E
      C8000: 46A2UF8E

What is that 7 and 8 referring to?

      Regards,

Myself, no idea, usually if the T-con boards are the same it'll work.
The fact that the line intensity varies points more to a panel issue... that's from prior experience.

You can go to shopjimmy and put in your tv model number. They will show a list of parts and then you can select a tcon board. On the next screen there will be a list of tvs that the tcon will work for. Maybe not an exact science but it beats guessing.

Re: Samsung UE46C8000 Horizontal Dark Lines across screen

Ok this is now narrowed down to either a T-con or panel failure...

Did some testing today - with the right only T-con to panel ribbon cable plugged in, there is nothing on the screen at all. with only the left cable plugged in, the left half of the screen is good.

Now - Unfortunately in my infinite wisdom i forgot to unplug the TV when refitting the ribbon cable and saw some smoke coming from a component on the T-con board... (I know, im an idiot).

Hopefully it is just the T-con that has failed, so i will change it for the one in my C7000 and report back.

              Thanks again all,

The symptom you saw with the lines disappearing when a connector was disconnected is symptomatic of a panel fault. I would be surprised if the T-con fixed it, but hey, life is full of surprises.

Heh, I blew out a Panasonic T-con so bad it had several burnt components I thought I took out the screen too. New t-con in and the screen was fine (screen had no issues prior though).

Samsung and these panel faults are lame.... So much wasted money on something that should last longer then 2-3 years!

                    Hey all,

So only a house move and 9 months later i finally got around to having another look at this set and am pleased to say that i have gotten it working

As suspected, it was the Panel which was faulty with some bad tab-bonds which with some carefully placed thermal interface pads seems to have cured it (at least for now...).

Beyond that i did also blow the T-con as per my earlier post but had another in the C7000 which i "borrowed" to confirm the fix!

Hope this post will help someone with similar issues in the future and thanks for everyones help.

Hi, I had this same issue on an 8 series Samsung which quite oddly turned out to be the LEDs. The set was still functioning entirely but just displayed with a darker band across the top of the screen where the LEDs (side lit) were only partially illuminating.

At the top of the power supply there are 4 parallel circuits running to the LEDs. Checking the voltages here for an abnormality against the other 3 when switched on will show up this issue. I replaced the LEDs and in doing so resolved the issue. I'm not saying that this is the fault, just worth a look as ordinarily the set wouldn't function under these conditions so this may be unique to the 8 series??

Hi Demon.. Can you elaborate more about this thermal interface pads?

You can use thermal pads if you have bad tab bonds to put pressure on bad connection and will help dissipate heat.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

                            Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

                            Hello,

First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:

I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.

I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.

I'm no expert but I've done the tape...

I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...
