    Replacing Eprom- tools/procedures

    Hello.

I am going to replace an EEprom on a TV main board (Coby). I am familiar with soldering but this is a little more complicated as it is a surface mount. Is there a video or suggestions posted that describes the best way to replace the EEprom..for example..is there a preferred soldering iron.wattage.etc...tips...

any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Is this the 5028 - bit of a leap from sound no back light (led) to replacing the eeprom
    Is it a known problem?
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

      Hello.

This is a different Coby, TFTV4025. Known problem with EEPROM causing TV not to turn back on. I have replaced EEPROM's before but struggle to do it effectively. I was hoping to get some pointers from the experts out there.

        Re: Replacing Eprom- tools/procedures

First took note of the direction the EEPROM facing, then I took a utility knife blade and very carefully scored the legs on the EEPROM lightly over and over until I cut through them, easily removed EEPROM chip out of the way, removed each leg one at a time using a 25 watt pencil soldering iron being very careful not to lift a trace.
Placed new EEPROM in place, being careful not to overheat using flux soldered one leg to hold it in place, then finished by soldering remaining legs, tv powered on normally.

I was just given a "broken" Coby TFTV4025. Symptoms are no power indicator light and no power on.
I've done voltage and resistance checks on the PSB and Main board. All DC comes on stable as soon as I plug in AC. 5V, 5STBY, 24V, V+ 24 to Inverter, CE1 200V cap reads 350VDC across leads. No visible damage/bad caps.

PSON reads steady 3.0VDC at PSB and Main BD. Power ON/OFF button seems to have no effect at the Main BD ON/OFF pin.

Is my symptom the same one for which a replacement eeprom is indicated?

I know this is last year's thread but will give it a try for a few days.

You don't need chip quik. Just flood all of the pins one each side with one big blob of solder. Then move your iron tip back and forth from side to side quickly to keep each blob molten. The chip will lift right off, assuming it hasn't got a pad on the bottom. Then use a solder sucker and some wick to get rid of the excess solder.

For who is not that experienced, that kit is safer.

I wasn't experienced at first. I found this to be pretty easy. The kit costs money and then you have to wait for it to show up.

                      Kaptop tape the surrounding area
Give it 360 - 380 C of heat and it should come off nice and easy.
                      Best way to be honest.

The quick solder if ok, but will not help if the centre of the chip is also soldered down.

Another method is grind the chip off then desolder the remaining legs.

all 3 methods have thier uses

First of all, I'd like to mention that I'm a novice when it comes to laptop repair, although I do have some experience with soldering.
One day, my laptop experienced a severe stutter, and after rebooting, it failed to boot into Windows. I decided to disassemble it and found that the PL900 component was blown. Later, I came across a post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...error%E2%80%99) with the same problem, where...

                          Hey guys,

I am new to the electronics repair game & have stumbled into some tools to get my workshop (garage) started.

I managed to get my hands on a low budget multi-meter, soldering iron, de-soldering gun, oscilloscope and a variable voltage/amperage DC power supply.

With this being a new hobby i am thinking of investing in some tools to make it a little easier.

When i get paid next i was thinking of buying a Peak Atlas ESR 70 gold.

I am after suggestions on what order to buy things because i don't have the money...

Replacing SOC SRK08 clean me needed?
                          by DeXXter
Hello, so I replaced a soc SRK08 (i3-1115G4) on a hp 14-dq because the 1.8v power supply was shorted and the pch was gone and I installed a SRK05 (i5-1135G7) that I had at hand. And I was wondering if a clean me region is needed after replacing the chip, I usually do this on laptops with separated pch, but with a soc (cpu and pch together) I have no idea. Normally I wouldn't ask this, but I have only the motherboard, no screen nor the adapter, and after I fix this I have to send it to another region so if someone knows about this, some help would be apreciated.

                          Note: After doing all...

I have Evga G2 1300w and I want to replace all the electrolytic capacitors because PSU is already 12+ years old and I want to give it more life before any capacitor does damage. There are no blown capacitors, but I want to protect myself by replacing them with new ones as a precaution. And now comes the main problem. I have 5 pieces of Bulk (I think they are KZE) 16v3300uf with dimensions 10/35/5, but I can't find them in that size, only 12.5/35/5.I have one KY 16v1000uf 8.5/19/3.5, one KY 16v220uf I think it is 6/13/3.5 but it is in holes of pitch 5 I have 4 pieces of KZE 16v2200uf with dimensions...

Status: I have a 12th generation Acer Nitro laptop with the main code HH514 LA-L973P REV 1A and the CPU is faulty. I replaced a CPU from an Acer mainboard of the same type and it worked, but the CPU had an error and couldn't enter Windows. Next, I replaced a CPU from a Dell laptop that was still working but had a VGA error. After replacing it, I flashed a new bios from the Acer manufacturer, but the machine still couldn't work. Can someone answer this question? Thanks.
