    Sony KDL-40SL140 - T-Con or bad panel?

Just got this sony KDL-40SL140, it and it has some problems with image - like dark on middle and right corner, service menu shows no problem, but setting are little different ones in service manual (I'm attaching pic of TV service menu and screenshot from manual). Some ghosting on right part of the screen. I did "factory reset" but it didn't fix it. Tested gamma on T-con (got instructions from this tread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=33861) - appears to be OK, but I don't get 0V and 15V - it's like 0.5V and 14.8V on first and last test points.
I had TV with very similar symptoms and replacing AS15 chip fixed it. But gamma didn't test right on that one. This one doesn't have AS15 chip too.

Few more pics - switching from light to dark background shows black screen that slowly moves from middle to right part, ideally it should switch to all black background instantly. Also, after it stayed on for while and warmed up, it started to show normal image (second pic).

Bad Panel due to ribbon cable tab bonding.

Can it be fixed permanently? If not, I'll just remove boards and sell them, just not sure about T-con - any chance this t-con can be defective? I don't want sell something that doesn't work.

Agreed on tabs. T-con should be OK.

Thank You! I removed screen today and tried to push on tabs, looks like you are right and pushing last one on the right brings image back to normal, it still kinda too bright, but maybe it is just TV settings or I got used to dark settings I have on my TVs/monitors Still, it's not permanent because tab goes under glass and nothing I can do to fix it, also even after getting normal image, I'm getting 1-2 vertical lines on that part of the screen. I think I'll just recycle boards from this TV.

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
              by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
              a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
              b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
              by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???
              by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
              by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

              Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
              by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...
