Re: UMC 32/188G Distorted Picture/Scanning Loop

Are you saying that your model number matches but the main board number is not the same as the one listed by Ohms, It has to match the board number and LCD panel number. Sky media use the same model number for lots of there sets with different makes of LCD panels and main board part numbers. And fitting the wrong eeprom will not work, I have fitted one that half matched to a Tv/dvd set that was for a non dvd set and got most of the set to work, but no dvd so ended up buying a s/hand main Flocko

Check your soldering and that all connectors are plugged in properly.

Does the chip go into slots or just on the tracks ? Never soldered a chip so small before thanks

Re: UMC 32/188G Distorted Picture/Scanning Loop

The chip is surface soldered to the pads. The pads should look metallic when you remove the chip. (It is very easy to "lift" pads, where you lose the metal or the connection between the pad and the trace breaks. If so, the repair is much more difficult, sometimes impossible.)

just a thought on the chip theres usually a little indent/mark to let you know which is pin 1 etc just double check you have fitted it right.

TV is back up and running. Turned out to be the GPU on the main. Bought a second hand main from a different model tv and replaced the BIOS IC with the original. I upgraded the heat sink also. All good again. Thanks Flocko.
Picked up a Toshiba combi from the dump for another challenge. Flashing led, squeaking noise.. I'm suspecting caps

Tracks on board look beyond repair little too intrequite for me to solder. Now obtaining a new av board has become a bigger task . Contacted sky media (umc) who won't sell me a board direct and every where else I check online is out of stock . 3 year old set and hardly used , frustrating is an understatement !

Sorry to hear you have damaged your board and am now finding it hard to replace, keep looking ,but do please make sure all the numbers are right, and the board is from the same make and model. as compatibility is the key to getting your set working again. Sky media have made this set under a lot of manufacturing names with this model number, but Av boards do not interchange. Good luck and good hunting Flocko

These boards are cheap on ebay, and will work with all models with the same panel. What is the model number of the board ?

The TMSD306.69a xxxxxx is the board layout number. the part number will be found on the bar code sticker on the back of the board, and that needs to match the one on replacement board for it to work ,the problem you have is that most sellers do not put this on there listings. some will list LCD panel numbers, but again this does not mean that it will work, the only sure way is like for like Flocko

Right numbers I see on back are a12081973-0a04115 and lta32oan12 . Can't find any of these on eBay . Unbelievable how hard it is to obtain a board for this and dealing with sky media direct for part does not seem to be possible !

So it has the Samsung LTA320 AN12 LCD panel try to match that with the boards on eBay and ask for sticker number, it can be a long hard drag but you will find one in the end Flocko

Found one very similar on eBay described as Panel Number
LTA320HN02 would this be the same or is that a slightly different panel ?

Yes,U8 is a pain on these sets for corruption, there is a serious issue here with these boards.Whenever the flash I.c gets corrupted, then the slanted writing, and scanning endless loop that never ends seems to be the outcome,no matter which part of the data is corrupt...Personally,i have a dislike of all things flash-they seem to be nowhere as reliable as the good old 24cxxx style eeprom.
A lack of servicing information on this modern garbage is a bind, too.
It annoys me also that the manufacturers must be hugely aware of this, and go out of their way to see the tv go to landfill, and then the disgruntled customer then goes out and buys something else..."I aint buying another pile of umc crap, let's get this akura"....inside is another T.MSD306.69A 12023.....
