Are mainboard version numbers important for compatibility?

In repairs and buying/selling parts on ebay, I'm noticing that shopjimmy is very thorough about listing parts like main boards with the unique part numbers and version numbers.

However, on Ebay some sellers seem to omit this information , or will sometimes even incorrectly list a different version for a mainboard , than the board actually is.

Is it important to match version? What will generally happen if you don't match version to the set when replacing? Thanks.

Shopjimmy as good as they are in referencing compatible parts they are not perfect and do miss things.

Samsung is pretty forgiving with situations like this, I have swapped compatible mainboards from smaller sized panels to larger sized panels and they work and a few of those were not listed on Shopjimmy.

Another good place to reference part compatibility is ModusLink, they seem to get the stuff Shopjimmy missed.

One of the ones I'm trying to fix now is a Sharp Sharp LC-46D62U. There are about 3 versions of the mainboard. Prices vary on Ebay, and at least one seller seems to have his listed wrong. I have a version 0. Would I need to match that version?

Gigabyte motherboard missing CPU compatibility due to BIOS version being too low - proper way from here?
        by survivalbloke
This job which came in is a Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX (rev. 1.0). It has BIOS version F1 currently, and the CPU installed is Ryzen 9 9900X, which according to the Gigaybte site, needs at least BIOS version F30. I don't have a supported CPU to install for the purpose of updating the BIOS. I have downloaded the BIOS from Gigabyte's website and unzipped the file "B650MD3HPAX.F32a". Can I just rename it to 'B650MD3HPAX.BIN' and flash it to the motherboard using neoprogrammer and my CH341A?...

I believe Chip 2 is BIN is the main one as it contained the Windows product key, marked with XXXXX for now.

Compatibility of main boards between different variations of samsung MU6100
        by JSin21
        Hoping someone here could possibly help. I have a few questions in regards to compatibility with main boards. But I'll give a quick short run down on what's going on first;

I have Samsung Smart TV UA65MU6100WXXY version DA01

Now years ago it started intermittently playing up after a lighting strike. Lighting hit the block of units i was living in at the time. Ever since that night the TV started having a mind of its own, It would randomly turn itself off or on, and all inputs stopped responding like HDMI, aerial, but USB still worked. Anyway, over the next few months...

Dell Latitude 7420 - Touchscreen not working since Mainboard replacement
        by Mirenia
        Hi everyone,

I've got a little "problem child": my Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1, which had a faulty mainboard.
I replaced it, but ever since, the touchscreen no longer works — and honestly, I’m running out of ideas…

In Windows Device Manager, I just see an I2C HID Device with error code 10. Sporadically, the touchscreen is recognized correctly for just a few seconds, but I haven’t been able to determine under which circumstances this happens.

The touchscreen also doesn’t work in UEFI/BIOS, although it’s enabled...

MASTER TL240 and new mainboard LW36BKC01
        by orcic
        Hello,
I have an old MASTER TL-240 LED TV. Since it stopped working and it had a DVB-T receiver that is being dismissed in Italy, I've decided to replace the mainboard with a DVB-T2 one.
The original problem was that when switching on the TV, the power LED was transitioning from red to steady blue, without showing video or audio.
After checking some voltages on the power supply board (HKL-240101-B Rev. 1.4, HKL from now on) someone suggested me to replace the mainboard.
Now I have some doubts about how to connect the new mainboard to the old power supply.
