I know this would normally be considered a bad panel but I have two of these sets. One had a tcon that had burned components. Mostly voltage regulators. The other one had a picture that was really slow to refresh. I tried the tcon in the other tv and had the same results. At tempted to press on ribbons and didn't change. Checked tcon voltages and tried disconnecting one ribbon on each side of the panel with no change. Tcons are.not cheap if I can find one. What should I look for? The.odds of doing this on two TVs is odd.

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
That's exactly what I figured. Oddly I pressed on them til I was blue in the face. No difference. Never seen a set with motion blur over the whole screen not being designated to the right lt or left. This screen is uniform all the way across.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
This is an odd one. I have sparkles in the middle of the screen. Just tried the board in a k own working kdl-46z4100. Same problem. Something on the tcon is causing the issue. The whole screen is sluggish. Holding images from previous scenes.
very slow to refresh. Also darker than normalLast edited by freakaftr8; 10-21-2014, 12:58 PM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
We have seen this before and it is caused by some panel failure but not tab bonds. Sadly very common on Samsung panels. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
that's exactly what I was thinking but I have a working kdl -46z4100 and when I put this t-con into that TV it did the same thing and if I take its T CON and put it into the non functioning TV it now works perfect two so it's definitely in the t-con board for some reasonDid I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
Found the problem. Two 8 pin voltage regulators are shorted on the outputs. Going to try to find replacements. I'll take pics and post tomorrow. Think this is a typical issue with this tcon board. The other tcon has similar issues and blew these in series of four. There are 8 of these in series.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
Can it be due to shorted out MLCC connected to the output pin?Never stop learning

I just got another one of these in tonight. Same problem blown fuse F 603. Bypassed fuse and got a perfect picture but this t-con board is short-lived the picture goes to colored vertical bars after 5 minutes of running. The other two t-con boards which also had the same blown fuse those boards are very slow to refresh the screen and the screen is dark but I've tried this board in the other two TVs and all the screens are perfect. If you look at the pictures you will see what F 603 controls. I tested different readings between the two boards and everything is the same in spec with the bad board and it working board.
Any ideas about these particular t-con boards and what kind of repairs that might have been done to them by others? They're very rare and when you find them they are very expensiveLast edited by freakaftr8; 11-14-2014, 01:33 AM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Perhaps some kind of quad or dual op-amp, what's the part number on the IC?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
Here's the good t-con. Great picture for 5 minutes or more
then this.
a quick power cycle on off back on clears the problem for a while until it does it again. I don't think it's actually something getting hot because sometimes when I turn the TV on the bars are there as soon as the screen backlight comes OnLast edited by freakaftr8; 11-14-2014, 02:09 AM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Switching controller ic. Maybe the FETs it drives are shorted?

Re: sony kdl-46xbr6 slow refresh
They test good. What are the chances the controller ic is bad?
Also on tcon that works it seems the motion causes it to go into failure mode. IF I leave the the screen paused it will stay ok.
by the way before in an earlier post when I had mentioned that I found the problem that was shorted voltage regulators they're not shortEd. that circuit has low ohms reading. It's that way on the good t-con board also so I never did fix the initial problemLast edited by freakaftr8; 11-14-2014, 09:02 AM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?
