    PDP Samsung 42" horizontal lines.

    Hi guys.

    Got this S42AX-SB01 PDP Module.

I assume this looks a lot like upper and lower Y-board are to be replaced?

Horizontal lines everywhere except the lowest part.

What exactly happens to the ICs on these boards? I can't see what chips they are, heatsinks are glued onto them...

    Thanks!

EDIT: It's SN755867. Apparently I would need to replace 10 of them.. (?)

I swapped the last two ICs on the bottom of the lower Y buffer with the ones above them. Now the lines disappeared from that part. (I hadn't assembled the last two supposedly faulty ICs when I took the picture.)

So yes it seems to be these buffer ICs that are faulty. 10 of them :-/

They are hard to replace although not expensive. Don<t know yet if I replace all ten of them or replace the two boards althogether.

If you were so inclined you could just isolate and replace the faulty ones.

I was lucky enough to find both buffer boards. Removing those chips would have been quite some work because they have a solder pad underneath too + all the silicon glue around them...
