    LG 60PK250/550 series Plasma; no standby

    When power cord is inserted into a outlet all I get are two flashes of the power LED, then nothing. Completely dead. No clicking.

    The power supply, Y & Z boards all have been removed and inspected under a magnifying lamp for bulged caps, cold solder joints & burn marks and nothing found. All connectors were also inspected and reseated 3 or 4 times.

    Initially when the set died a repair shop came out and inspected the power supply board and 'hit' a few possible suspicious solder joints. The set worked for a month or so, then died again. What also was happening, the set could be left on for 2-3 days, but when turned off and later back on (unknown time frame) it wouldn't power up.

    They and I assume it's the PS board, but one huge problem is, there are no schematics that I can find on this series from Goldstar of theses boards. I have three similar service manuals, but the only schematics are for the control & main boards. No idea why Goldstar doesn't/didn't supply what should be in a service manual is beyond me.

    Anyway, any ideas here? I have done a fair amount of reading and I have seen nothing with the scenario.

    The set is from 2010 and was left one for hours on end (a real poor practice) with no one watching. There was a fair amount of dust collected everywhere which was removed (not by a can of compressed air). The only discoloration I saw was on the reap internal cover. But, nothing I would consider unusual.
    Again, the boards were not discolored at all.

      Would heating up (or freezing) any of the components help find the problem? I see that mentioned a number of times. Any component temperature issues were always running hot, not cold from my experience.

        Samsung 60" Plasma TV, Blinking Standby LED
        by rju
        A sports bar/restaurant with ~40 Samsung Plasma TVs. This is the 2nd TV that has a blinking standby LED. I'd like to learn how to repair these TVs because I'd guess that over time more and more of them will develop this symptom. My hope is to repair the bad PCB, however if that's not realistic then I'd replace the bad PCB.

        Model PN60F5300AF, Type PN60F5300, Model Code PN60F5300AFXZA

        Upon applying power, the red standby is steady. When I tap the power button, the standby LED immediately blinks twice, then it blinks once ~ every 4 secs. Also, Upon applying power, the...

        Samsung Plasma PS43F4500AW Won't Start (flashing standby)
        by check12
        Hi ... Samsung Plasma PS43F4500AW ... when powered with 240V mains standby flashes, pressing PWR button causes standby LED to go out but nothing further happens.

        I have already removed and benched the SMPS, jumpered PS_ON to GND, VS_ON to 5.3v and have VS & VA voltages and all other voltages available at CN4007.

        VS=213v
        VA=58v
        SVT_VS=213v

        This suggests to me that the SMPS is probably ok but I have no experience of TV repair so could do with some help.

        I have removed the XY-Drive board and checked all the ribbon cable...

        Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
        by tvguy12012012120
        This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

        Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

        Samsung plasma - flashing standby light
        by 7ony
        The TV is a 2013 Samsung plasma, model # PN60F5300AFXZA.

        Snagged it up in non-working condition a couple years ago. Previous owner said that sometimes he could get it to come on after repeated tries but other than that he couldn't get it to turn on.

        Personally I haven't been able to get it to turn on at all. The standby light comes on solid when plugged in, but pressing the power button results in the standby light flashing once every 4 or so seconds. No "click" noises, no light from the panel at all. Just the flashing standby light.

        No visible...

        Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
        by fharris1977
        Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.
