You are not having backlights problem, the T-CON is not getting the the Voltage to run.

Well, without the diagram, you will have to trace out using Ohm meter from one end of the fuse on the T-CON board to the main board to find out which component has the lowest resistance reading, that will be the switching device (more likely to be MOSFET).
I will guess some thing in that red section I marked.

I just found out from the guy I got the TV from that when the TV first stopped working having no picture or sound that he bought a refurbished main board and installed and had same results. Based on what you see so far do you think the problem is in main board.

Yes, the new board can be bad, you will not really take the word of the seller that the board is good or bad for sure.

I traced from TCon to main board then to where the ribbon comes from the power supply to the main board . Only had 5 volts on three pins all other read m volts. Traced ribbon to power supply same readings.

The ribbon cable from the T-CON on the pin that the 12V from the main board is fed into will get the 12V through a switched device (3-pin device), that is the device you need to find on the main board.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

                                            Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                                            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                                            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                                            by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
