    Panasonic TC-P42C2 6 blinks

Getting a 6 blink error code.

Replaced sn board. Green led is dim gets bright then disappears.

Do I have to replace ss board with the sn?

What blink code now? Do a check on SS11 and see if shorted or check all the RJP30E4 transistors for shorts. Normally I think with them bad you'd get 10 or 4 blink.

Always a chance you received a dud SN board.

      6 blinks.

well i bought an ss board originally but that didnt fix the tv so then i ordered a sn board and had the tv working.

but i then put in my old ss to test it and i think it took out the new sn. i was just trying to see if the old ss was even bad. now it wont work after putting new ss board back in.

shop jimmy sent a replacement sn board. still no luck so im thinking maybe i need to get a new ss as well again.

how do i check for shorts?

yeah, that's a bummer. The old saying of leave sleeping dogs lay.

        Good chance that's what happened.

I did something similar this week. repaired SS blew out those RJP30E4 transistors again and did not fully disconnect it from the SN, just ss11(vsus) which was short but the other connector that feeds back to the SN was also short and bang, dead SN.

Grab a meter and set to diode or continuity mode and either pick any 2 legs on those transistors or gnd and Vsus at SS11.

You could be going around in circles here. Test both boards. on the sn some transistors that commonly short are q661,401,402,421,451,441.

        post what you find

constant beep or low/zero reading would indicate short

          Hi all:

Hope this thread will be of help to me an others

I am a newbie... Just wanted to say hi and H E L P ! I have a strange problem with a Panasonic tc-p42c2 It shown 6 blinks after it warmed up (35 - 40 min) and then it will not show image again until it cools. Took the back off and checked for bulging caps. Nothing. Tightened all fasteners and powered on. Perfect. kept it on for over 2 hrs and no shutdown. Put the back on and now it won't even show a picture when cold. Will post in the right area...

          Thanks

That sounds like an A board problem more than anything else. Before the TV used to shut down, did you ever notice any "flutter" in the picture, for example dead pixels, pink/purple/white discolouration, flickers on the screen, etc? Or would it be picture perfect then bang, shut down?

yes... it did flutter and tweak out a bit before the picture went out. When I had the back off it worked great though. Now I cant even get a picture at all... Just the 6 blinks

              Thanks for the help

Is there a way to test this component?

There are some LEDs on the SC and SS, do these light up at all?

Do you have a digital multimeter, and can you use it?

                  Yes .. I have a nice Fluke and have put it through its paces on numerous occasions. The values and locations to probe are unknown. I have looked for an A board at Jimmy and they are out of stock. Could I rebuild it? Or send it in for a refurb? I could search for a service manual online I guess. I am sure it would have a walk through with step by step diagnosis. If anyone has the inside scoop..please let me know :~}

just a quick one the boards are used in both HD and FHD sets, FHD boards will not suit, from there it's size specific but other 42" HD boards will work but have varying features

I'm going with A board, I did a U20 which had no picture but turned on. replaced it with another board i had laying around but never used and it too was faulty with picture but flickers red and blue bars.

Third board fixed it. these boards get very hot especially the bga . My v20 it runs really hot too which is not great. i'd say that chip the solder breaks free as an assumption.

if you get desparate you can convert a 46" or 50" by either doing an eeprom swap or if you have the gear copy the data from your eeeproms and overwrite the equivalent chip on the other board.

i've only done IC swaps but I am going to try an eeprom writer out if i get the chance so it's less intrusive.

If you choose the later path touch base so i can double check what chips need to be swapped

Bingo. Craigs yielded a few faulty sets. Some quick board swaps and the image has never been better. I now have two working panny 42"s and a stack of known good and known bad parts.

Funny, it feels so good to get a 5yo beater set back on its feet.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. Panasonic P50VT20B Plasma 12 Blinks, Power Supply or A-Board?
                            by Biruslapio
Hello, I've had this TV for 3 years, 2 years ago it stopped working signaling 12 Blinks, SOUND_SOS according to the service manual.

It has no VSUS or VDAT, and P15V has 1.0V instead, the same 15V goes to A board. F15V is ok and other main voltage rails.

It seems the power supply is defective, since unplugging D20 ribbon cable that goes from D-board to SC-board makes the behavior change, the TV stays on, there's no image nor VSUS, but 15V reads 2.4V, high enough to not trip the SOS 12 blinks, so it stays on, fans do not spin but I left it 2 hours, green led lit up...
