Insignia NS-50L240A13 - No Picture but sound

Hi Everyone, I am also having issues with my 50 in LCD TV, it is model # NS-50L240A13. The tv is just over 1 ½ yrs old, which of course is just outside the warranty. The TV just suddenly went black but I could still hear the sound. When I hit menu, I don't see anything. When it comes on it is just a dark glow, I can see light on inside. Any ideas what it could be and is it possible to fix on your own? I do not have any tools to check voltage. Would just try replacing the whole board? Research has me thinking on TCON Board, does that sound right and is it easy to fix and where it on this TV. Thank Tou

This TV uses the LCD panel with integrated T-CON, you can only check on the main board to see if it does send either 5V or 12VDC to the panel or not. You may have to get the LCD panel model number to get the pinout of the LVDS connector.

Thanks for taking time to respond! I have no skill set with this stuff so sorry for the questions. What is the T-CON integrated with and where is it located? In my picture, I only see a Power Supply panel and Main Panel. Is that correct? Is the LVDS connector the wire going up the TV with yellow tape? What does checking if it is 5V or 12VDC mean? Will I need a special tool or do I just read it? Is there a special way to remove the LVDS connector?

I was hoping to just unhook a panel and replace it with $50 panel instead of taking to get fixed. It sounds like it may be to complicated.

The T-CON board for this panel is inside the LCD panel assembly. Some panel may need 5VDC, some may need 12VDC to run, we do noy know until we get the spec sheet of the LCD panel model numbers. If you need new panel, then forget about fixing it.
"Is the LVDS connector the wire going up the TV with yellow tape?" Yes. Pin 1 of that white LVDS connector X501 is more likely to be the one that supplies 5 or 12V to the panel.

Budm - he said in the first post he has NO tools to check voltage.

Clyde 3313 - There is virtually nothing we can do if you dont even have a multimeter.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Insignia NS-50L240A13 - No Picture but sound

Hate to revive such an old thread but I'm having this same problem. There's only two boards in this TV: Power supply and main board. Backlight is on. I'm guessing this is a T-Con problem. Is the T-Con board integrated into the main board or is it built into the LCD panel itself? I know the CCFL inverter is integrated into the LCD panel but I can't find any info on how t-Con is managed.

              For reference:

LCD Panel: CHIMEI Innolux 50" TFT LCD V500HJ1-L01 C1

LCD panel data sheet: http://www.datasheet4u.com/download_new.php?id=897860 (There's a PDF download link towards the bottom of the page)

              Main Board: 6MF0090110

Can't find any info on the main board but since I don't see anything in the panel datasheet I'm thinking it's all done on the main board. Main board isn't terrible - $57.95 straight from the Best Buy parts bin. I'm cheap though, so I thought I'd ask the pros before I roll the dice.

              Thanks in advance!

Just to follow up... In case anyone else has this problem, there is a T-Con board underneath a plastic cover top of the screen. $19 at ShopJimmy. It fixed my problem.
