    Re: Vizio E320-A0 TV

    Hello,

Yes it was hit by surge. This is the one that I tried to fix the power supply that had one resistor that blew up, remember?

I found the power supply at a local store like you mentioned to get one, because it was going to be more time consuming than fixing that power supply.

I found a main board lastnite for $17.00 and ordered it. I think the main board is damaged too. After this main board, if it doesn't work, I will hammer it

I know it is the same one, I read the first post and there was no indication as how the TV was damaged unless I missed in the thread some where. Seems like the TV was badly damaged and it took out the power supply and more likely the main board and possibly the T-CON board also. At least the boards are cheap enough, hopefully that is all it will need, power supply and the main board.

        Re: Vizio E320-A0 TV

        Alright guys,

I received a main board today and I'm still having issues. The white light on the TV turns on as soon as you press the power button, but the backlight does not turn on.

With the TV on standby, I tested the voltage on the 2 pin cable that goes to the backlight and I was getting 23.73v (white wire) and 0.55v (black wire). Now, when I turn it on, the while light is brighter on the front of the TV, the voltage on the white wire goes up to 37.78v and it starts dropping all the way to 23.73v.

If I disconnect the 2 pin cable that goes to the backlight and I test the voltage of that 2 pin but on the mainboard, the same problem happens, voltage goes up, then starts dropping to 23.73v.

I'm guessing the voltage is suppose to stay high for the backlight to turn on, bu it drops, am I doing it correctly?

Any other way to do a test?

I'm getting a headache with this TV.

        Thanks for your help

you may have bad LEDs inside your panel.

            Hello,

I noticed the TV turns on, but checking the display with a flashlight, it is upside down.

It shows TV Signal on the right bottom corner of the screen reading it from right to left.

Possible bad mainboard because I'm not getting the backlight either?

Power supply I know works, but I'm starting to suspect that the mainboard I ordered arrived DOA.

I also found this post for the same TV that I ask how to test the LED strips.

can you post a pic of your original main board and the replacement.
its possible the main board you order is either bad or not compatible to your panel.

if the TV is now powering on, I believe the main board is functioning

                UPDATE:

I finally decided to take a look at the Vizio E320-A0 TV again, and this time I checked all the stickers and numbers on the board and order another board. The TV worked. So I'm guessing the previous board I had purchased was bad.
I had a hard time trying to tell the seller that his board was not working, but he finally accepted and I returned it.

                Thanks for the help

Here's an odd one. Why in the world do I have 76 VAC on the fuse when I have measured 115 VAC on the input power cord? Does this point to something known or simply another SMPS problem I need to run down?...

Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                  The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I got a Yamaha HTR-3065 on the bench currently that's got a no power/ no standby issue. When I plug it in it draws 0.01A from the wall, the relay for the ac transformer never clicks, there are no standby lights on the front, and pressing the power button does nothing. The fuse was not blown but upon measuring the voltages on the power low voltage power supply board (labeled operation 3 pg 89 in the schematic) they do not match what the schematic says they should be.

Trying to learn electronics repair as a hobby. I have no formal training in electronics, circuits, etc. Everything I know, which isn't much, has been learned from watching youtube videos, reading books, forums, etc. This means, sometimes I have a hard time understanding and interpreting what's important when I look at datasheets, and such.

My brother has a TV that I'm working on now. He said he was watching it, he heard a loud pop and it went off. I used my DMM to check the fuse, it was blown. From watching lots of hours of electronics repairs on youtube, I figured that was just a...
