OK, so the remote will NOT work. My next guess is a bad capacitor. I will have to change one at a time to see which one is causing the problem.
It seems the capacitors on the main board are overheating. I left it on for a while and the capacitors are very hot. I know from experience that this causes them to fail. I will have to check them all and install a fan cooling the main board. If anyone wants to install a fan on their TV I do it an easy way. I buy these LM317 DC-DC step-down DC converters for $0.60 each and install them with the fan, this way I can control the speed. I wire it up to a 12 volt source on the power board.
