    OK, so the remote will NOT work. My next guess is a bad capacitor. I will have to change one at a time to see which one is causing the problem.

    It seems the capacitors on the main board are overheating. I left it on for a while and the capacitors are very hot. I know from experience that this causes them to fail. I will have to check them all and install a fan cooling the main board. If anyone wants to install a fan on their TV I do it an easy way. I buy these LM317 DC-DC step-down DC converters for $0.60 each and install them with the fan, this way I can control the speed. I wire it up to a 12 volt source on the power board.

        That kit looks like it contains the EEPROM and the voltage regulators, I do not think that will solve the problem with the remote. It may be a week before I can get back to this TV. There are some other things I have to prioritize first.

          Do you have orange logo light even when TV is on? My old mainboard did that. I still think EEPROM might fix it, but not crazy to invest in it too much just to try it.

            No, the TV works great, only the remote stopped working. Usually when your logo stays orange it means you have a bad voltage regulator. Those are the parts you were testing earlier in this thread.

              TV with that mainboard worked fine too, but logo stayed orange all time - whatever TV is on or in standby mode. After replacing mainboard, it started turning white when TV is on.

                That board has a bad voltage regulator, that is usually what causes it.

                  But testing not shows any problem with them? Or it did?
                  I think both problems - glitchy remote response and always orange logo are caused by the same component

                    Well that is possible. I will have to look at what budm said about testing these, there is a formula. The output voltage is equal to (Input voltage minus the adjustment pin), something or another. Budm knows, maybe he can repost that formula here.

                      ldo regulators are 1.25v higher output, to reference pin, unless it is a fixed regulator.

                      have you checked for a signal change on the harness that goes from the button board to the main. i couldn't recall if you had.

                        It was 3 years ago so I hardly remember details. Plugged it today - I was wrong about "always yellow logo" - its actually always white, even when TV is off.
                        Shane, did you program EEPROM on board without removing it? I saw on alexpress simple programmers for ~$2 and clips for additional $2, which is cheap and I could try that, even if it not works for this mainboard, I might use it for something else later

                          Buying a cheap EEPROM programmer is not the way to go. I ended up buying 3 until I got a good one. The best one I have is a ( SOFI SP8 USB Programmer ). Then I have another one that I need for special EEPROMs, it was like $70 and it is only good to me for 1 EEPROM. It seems like you can't just buy 1 and if you want one that does most EEPROMs then you might have to pay over $300.

                          In my experience it is not good to copy and program the EEPROMs while they are on the board

                            You probably do professional repairs, but I fix something occasionally, investing in expensive programmer probably will never pay for itself if I will use it just couple times in lifetime

                              If you do not buy at least the SP8 then you will be buying another one when you find out the cheap one you bought will not program the EEPROM you have. The cheap ones only do a few EEPROMS.

                                  I think the SP8 does over 5,000 chips, well worth the money. It is around $50 give or take.

                                    Your problem maybe CPU related, and not the EEPROM. I have seen this happen on the Vizio VF551XVT where the main board is fully functioning but the remote doesn't work.I try the EEPROM and the problem wasn't fix. I had to replace the CPU. I believe the port was blown on the CPU.

                                    also there is much to check, only a couple of caps and couple resistors and then trace goes directly into the CPU

                                    Do you know the part number of the CPU, It maybe a MEDIATEK MT5292SUVJ.

                                    if you remove the heat sink from the CPU you will need a Hot air gun to safety loosen the glue

                                      The CPU is a MT5392UVSJ. So you replaced the CPU and the problem was fixed? $43.00 for a new CPU. And I have not been successful at changing one out yet. I can not get the solder balls to stay in place. I need more practice first. Looks like this problem is not worth the trouble and I will add a cooling fan to the CPU to prevent any further damage.

                                        Yes that the one MT5392UVSJ, I gave the part number off memory. I had trouble with these CPUs coming from China, most of the was bad stock. I will recap the power supply for sure do to the age of the TV.

                                        The CPU (the bad one) I replace had a dull solder pad where the solder ball goes, this contact is where the remote sensor was going, looking at it with a magnifying glass is look burn out.

                                        yes, its a challenge to reball CPUs, its take time and patient. plus no one make any template for MEDIATEK CPU for TV.

                                          I finally received programmer from China, that was almost 2-month long delivery due to USPS, I guess - tracking said it arrived to US on August 25 but they delivered it just yesterday. I got it to read and reprogram chip, but appears that it not fixed problem too - when I plugged TV, standby light is white again - not yellow as it should be. TV turns on with buttons and I might try remote tomorrow, but since standby light is wrong color again, Im sure problem still exists.
