    Samsung LE40A567 - Dim picture

    Hi,
I have a Samsung LE40A567 LCD TV with a very dim picture.
I found that PWMDIM was low.
I connected PWMDIM to 5V through 1K resistor, and that restored the backlights and the picture was normal.
I could access all the menus etc, but I couldn't tune any channels.
I assume the mainboard is faulty. What could cause the PWMDIM to go low (0,2V) ?
The mainboard model is BN41-01022D, I can take pics tomorrow if needed.

It could be a corrupted EEPROM. Try doing a factory reset.

While the TV is in standby, press Info, Menu, Mute followed by Power. When the TV turns on select the reset option and execute it.

      Thanks,
I removed the resistor before doing the factory reset, and now the backlights turned on even without the resistor.
I still did the factory reset and now it found the channels too and everything seemed to work normally for a while (less than 5 minutes).
Suddenly it lost signal, and only one channel continued to work.
I restarted the TV and the backlights were flickering for a second or two after turning the TV back on.
Then it was back to normal but only one channel works, no signal on the others.

Re: Samsung LE40A567 - Dim picture

Hi I am trying to follow this but there is not much information on the LE40A567
One site does suggest that this is NOT a set with LED backlights.
PWMDIM seems to be associated with LED backlights so can you confrim that
your set has LED and not CCFL tube backlight.

        Perhaps pictures would help.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Samsung LE40A567 - Dim picture

With a few rare exceptions all "LE", "LN", " LA" Samsung TVs have ccfl backlights

Could be whatever drives it is faulty, open pullup resistor (if any), or something shorted\low resistance to ground on the line. Or like tom66 said, a software issue - and that could be caused by many things...

              Heres a few pics.
              It has CCFL backlights.

The backlights work all the time now, although when turning the TV on they flicker for a second or two.
