Sanyo CE32FD90-B Good advert to quit smoking

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I thought some people might be interested.

Just picked up the above TV as non working. Backlight comes on but no output. Basically just cleaning and reseating the LVDS cable has fixed it.

I think it was caused by being in a heavy smoking household as there is what I presume is old tobacco (light brown dust/powder) all over the place and it stinks.

The worst of what I've found (and also I assuming from smoking) is this bit under the bezel

Glad I gave it up 5 years ago!

Looks like rust to me too, from cleaning the screen and the liquid running down and collecting on the tin. lucky it did'nt wick up and ruin the lcd panel.

Yeah you're right. It was tobacco all on the boards, but that part is rust. Coming off nicely with a dremel.

It's not 100% though as it seems to have a tab bond problem as well. Not sure if it could have been caused by that, but hopefully a shim will help after it's all cleaned up.

Not a pleasant fix this one...
