    Sony KDL-46V2500 4 Blinks

I have a KDL-46V2500 Sony that's turns on for a second and goes black with 4 blinks. I looked up similar threads and only found one, it seems its a backlight/inverter issue?

I placed 2 extra ccfl lamps near the outputs of the inverters to check if theres any missing lamp outputs. I see a spot on the right upper inverter board that seems unusual.

So far I tried swapping transformers and the blue caps around to see if they would switch with the spot but they didn't so I think they aren't the problem.

Any ideas with the inverter board? I'm starting to lean towards a bad lamp but I want to make sure I tested everything first beforehand.

      What does that mean?

Perhaps mark it on a picture so we know what you are seeing.

Its a way of checking if the inverters are outputting correctly. If you place a ccfl lamp above the outputs or above the transformers and see if the inductance causes it light up.

If you look on my photo, you can see the lamp light up in an even patterns all about except for one spot. So I assume this would be the problem area, but all the transformers and caps have been switched around without switching the spot so that clears them. However I still can't figure out if this is an inverter or lamp problem.

Its possible the ccfl in the panel is bad, If the lamp in the panel is bad (open) then there will be a higher voltage at that transformer due to the lack of load so your test lamp will light brighter.

Hm that makes sense, thanks! I'll be checking out the lamps.

Looks like I found a bad ccfl lamp. Its much more obvious in person than in the photo. It was much dimmer than the rest of the lamps and it corresponds with the location of the unusual output. I replaced it with a spare and the tv stays on and plays normally now.
