    Vizio VP42 Plasma (No Picture)

    Ok so I was given this Vizio VP42 HD Plasma and I was convinced I could fix this cost effectively. Has no video.

    Plugged it in and press power (nothing unplugged yet) and I hear the relays on the PCB click and I see LEDs on the lower main board top three light green and stay on. The last one D15 doesn't light at all.

    All fuses are good. I checked them for breaks with continuity and again for voltage at both ends, they are fine.

    I am at a stop at the moment looking to you fine folks for help.

      Does it have sound? If the internals are LG, you may have a bad IPM on the Y-Sustain. Check the white ceramic fuses for continuity.

          I forgot to add:
          All LG internals, I dont know if I have sound because I dont know what input it is on. I keep pressing input with a bluray hooked up and nothing so far.

              They are LG, How do I figure out if it is the IPM. Is there a way to check? Also I cant figure out if I do still have sound because I dont know what input its on and I do keep cycling but never seem to find the HDMI with the bluray player on it.

                  To change inputs, I believe you have to hit the down or up arrow after pressing the Input button. Also, check your PSU output voltages; VS and VA are the most important for no picture issues.

                      Ill post voltage here in a minute and go check the input here in a few minutes.

                          Vizio D50u-D1 Powers up no picture

                          I replaced the backlights all good. Two months later set was dead, had a shorted D9100, replaced all good again.
                          Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
                          supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
                          issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off....

                          Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
                          No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
                          The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
                          But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

                          When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
                          Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
                          Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
                          Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

                          Hello, i am working on Vizio M70-C3. It can hardly power on, it takes 15 power button presses or remote. Seems like eeprom problem that I seen before but all reading online says that this tv has power board or main board problem.

                          When tv powers on vizio V logo shows nice on whole screen. picture 1
                          When it goes into tv mode it only shows good picture on left side of screen, right is all scrabbled up. pic 2

                          Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture

                          Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
                          Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

                          I love working on plasma TVs.
                          Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

                          The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
                          No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
                          Will start troubleshooting tonight.

                          Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound

                          Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
