    As19-h1g ic

I have a T-Con with a bad AS19-H1G IC. Similar to the AS15, however the body of the chip is glued or soldered to the board. I am trying not to destroy the board, has anyone found a good way to remove this chip?

Hot air will probably be the best technique.

Im trying with no luck, the rest of the board is getting very hot and may be starting to melt the nearby tiny resistors

cover the board with a couple layers of tin foil.
I use high heat foil tape
Use flux around all edges of the chip

I got it off but not easily and not pretty. Most traces remain but have pulled up from the board close to the chip.

I think next time I will try cutting the IC pins with a razor blade when cold, then apply heat from the bottom of the board to loosen the main body.

Man you are not kidding. I'm trying to remove one from a V520H1-C06 tcon board and this will not budge. I've already sent a smt resistor sliding sideways and broken a few corners of the ic by putting gentle upward pressure there. I've added solder to the pins and that melts but the ground pad must be held on by military grade krypton.

My Imitation Station came with a replacement heater for the wand so I'm going to install it and see if that makes a difference. Failing that the paint stripper is coming out so I can do some real damage, lol.

Try to dremel the chip off
cut legs off then you can even grind the chip away
              and desolder the legs

I would have laughed at that idea until I saw a custom jig to do exactly that for chip removal on iPhone logic boards.

I will keep that one in my back pocket for now. Seems easy enough to slip and cut through board traces when doing it by hand.

Done this many times with this chip and also with buffer board chips works well with no damage

With a hot air soldering station no problems taking ic's off. Other than that cut the legs off with an exact opposite knife or dremel, what ever suits you.

Problem is when ic is glued sometimes with hot air you can have problems

best method in this cases is to grind.
                        look at the phone repairs
most of them now grind chips away
                        then replace using hot air
just depends what tools you have access too and good you are using them.

I have no problem removing buffer ic's and smd mosfets and voltage regulators and such with my station. This setup appears to be a different animal.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                            Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                            by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
