    Updating LCD TV Firmware

    Good evening Guys and Dolls
    My question is:
A firmware is dowloaded and it comes in a zip folder.
When executing to update or 'fix' one that was some how corrupted, is the file executed outside of the folder or do I put the zip folder on my memory stick or just the file, insert the memory stick in the USB port on the TV and then plug TV to the AC?
I have never attempted this before.
Does the TV automatically swich it self on and install the new file??
    Thanks, Andy

    Re: Updating LCD TV Firmware

unzip to memory stick, then plug stick into tv, access tv menu, initiate update.

Don't turn off or lose power to tv, it will reboot once it's finish.

Also make sure the memory stick is properly format and compatible as indicate by the TV manufacturer, I.E. my SONY needs to use FAT32 format.

        Thanks Guys!!!
        1. Take the file out of the zip folder.
        2. Put file on the memory stick formatted to FAT 32 or format recommended by Manufacturer.
        3. Turn on TV.
        4. Access MENU.
        5. Initiate update.
        6. Wait for update completed as indicated by automatic reboot.
NOTE: Do not switch of or remove power to TV during update.

Not all Manufacturers are the same
          I just updated my LG42LD550
Instructions from LG website were to make a folder called LG_DTV ON thumbdrive
and unzip firmware into that folder.
Insert thumbdrive into tv and a menu poped up found newer firmware do you want to update y/n. Y and it updated then restarted TV wotks great

Some flash drives wont work. No matter if its formatted as FAT32. The only drive that works for me is my 12 years old flash drive but is only 1GB. New Tvs requires 2 GB. I'm struggling with this right now. Do you guys know of any trick how to make this flash drives work?

Firmware file for Marantz NR1501 needed
              by Daniel Larsson
              Hi all,

I picked up a Marantz NR1501 that the seller said did not produce any audio, but was starting up just like normal. This was indeed the case and the hunt for damaged components started.
After confirming all voltages and replacing all caps on this godforsaken HDMI-board I finally got sound from the AUX input, but all digital inputs are still dead.

The service menu shows no DSP version so I desoldered IC1604 that should have the serial flash DSP firmware on it and made two dumps that turned out identical.
The content of these seems to be useless as far...

              Hello,

I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).

But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.

I'm trying to reset my bios without success.

              I tried :

-I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries...

              Hello experts,
I have both dump and firmware from a DVR system. I need to extract the linux file system from the dumps.
I tried with binwalk, but could not get all the files. Can anyone please help me with the steps.

I have included the firmware in the attachment and here is the current binwalk output
