So would you postulate that it's the TCON board itself is bad/damaged, or lack of power from the mainboard?

Regardless I bought the replacement for 20$. Should be here within 3-4 days and I'll report back after installing it and we'll go from there.

"lack of power from the mainboard?" It is getting the 12V from the main board fine but the sub power supplies on the T-CON are not producing any other voltages such as the 3.3V, 1.2V, etc to run the board. So hopefully it will just dead T-CON board.

The smaller part is a p channel switching mosfet and not a voltage regulator as I had thought
        source and gate show 12volts
the other one is an adjustable voltage regulator which doesn't show any input power which is why you show no output power, It may or may not be bad ? It may not even come on till something else feeds power to it ?

the replacement may tell the answer.
I saw a ton of these t-cons out there, so a lot of these units are dying and hopefully the main isn't what is taking these down
the cost is low enough to take the dive !
        fingers crossed !!

          Hey Guys,
I received the replacement T-CON board in the mail on the 14th and installed it. I plugged it all back in and checked the voltages and they're all looking good. The replacement was the thing that fixed it. the picture on HDMI popped right on after I powered it on! 30$ spent on a free TV to make it back in working order. Thanks everyone for your help and assistance!

No problem. I hate seeing tech issues online and then the OP goes off to try something or just replies back "fixed it thanks!" without telling how they got to that point. I just ordered the part and installed it and boom, power button on and everything is perfect.

Hi Everyone, I am also having issues with my 50 in LCD TV, it is model # NS-50L240A13. The tv is just over 1 ½ yrs old, which of course is just outside the warranty. The TV just suddenly went black but I could still hear the sound. When I hit menu, I don’t see anything. When it comes on it is just a dark glow, I can see light on inside. Any ideas what it could be and is it possible to fix on your own? I do not have any tools to check voltage. Would just try replacing the whole board? Research has me thinking on TCON Board, does that sound right and is it easy to fix and where it on this TV. Thank Tou
