    panasonic th-50pz80u no picture

th50pz80u powers on and fans are running. green leds on sc and ss boards. The screen comes on a dim gray. It has a solid red led on front. When I disconnect the cable between the A and D boards the screen lights up. My A board is a tnph0721al , will any other boards work? Any help would be welcome. thanks.

A board issue, I just got the exact same model the other day. It powers on, red led is solid no blinks, and the screen glows. Replaced the A board and that fixed it.

Did this problem happened after a storm and a power surge just wondering?

The owner said their directv box went out and it took the tv with it. It popped the circuit breaker in their home.

Board options as listed on ShopJimmy: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...d&q=th-50pz80u

Edit: Geez, that's an expensive board.

I ordered a A board from Payless (TNPH0721AJ) and I got nothing with that board in. I guess I'll have to find a (AL) board.

The only compatible boards I saw on ShopJimmy were ALS and AFS. I wonder if these boards will work: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...d&q=th-c50fd18

I'm unsure of the subtle differences between TH-C50FD18 and TH-50PZ80U. I have both TVs, and they look the same (both made in 2008), minus the shiny bezel on the TH-50PZ80U.

Edit: I've read that TH-C50FD18 is a Costco version of TH-50PZ80U.

Yep that's the same situation I had, power surge and then cable box stops working as well.

I am not sure that I want to put that much in a six year old tv.

Yeah its an expensive board, I was fortunate enough to use the A-board from the 42" panasonic TH-PZ4280U with the 10 blink PSU problem i couldn't figure out. The suffixes weren't the same, but hey it worked perfectly! Don't remember which.

The board I got from Payless was from a TH-PZ4280u , but I'am not sure was any good. Did not even get a relay click with it.

Panasonic TVs usually have some issues swapping different A board screen sizes over but I thought that only applied to the newer models.

I found a cheaper A-board at moduslinkptstvboards.com . Has anyone dealt with these people. They sell refurbished and also repair customer`s boards.

I've only had one experience with Modus, but they did a great job repairing an LCD TV main board. They were very responsive to questions.

I've had two mainboards fixed by them, a Samsung and a Panasonic. Expensive, but can be the only way to get a working board.

I'd feel much more comfortable having them repair my original board than buying a used board, especially if the failure is common for the TV model. The Samsung main board I had them fix is prone to failure, and it was only about $70 to correct.

Thanks for the info. I believe I will have Modus fix my board.

Tv went out... Tried to turn it on....Had solid on power light. Fans ran, no picture, but back lit and had sound... Let it run an hour, came on then after a couple of days pffft...out again...The on again...Then out again. What the blazes????? Found the service manual on it then tore onto it...Both sc and ss leds on ! Manual said replace d board.... Sat back on it a few days and thought about it....Well it turns out it happens after the grandkids play COD on xbox on it and the BOOM,BOOM,BOOM vibration worked the D-5 connector was loose at the D board.....Lousy metal clip not a good plastic locker....

If i had not read all of this I would have suggested checking the LVDS lead, they can work loose and gett bad connections too.

                                        Nice job.
